Powernoodle's Leatherman Wave Challenge
on: March 01, 2016, 02:42:03 AM
DAY 1

Well, here we go again.  For the next month I'll carry only the Wave.  This month won't be as painful as some, as the Wave is a good one to carry.  And having an outside-accessible blade makes it all the better.  For me, the biggest downside of not carrying an EDC folder is the slow deployment of interior blades.

Interesting shot. What are you using to get the fisheye effect?

Its a Canon "Elph" camera, that has a digital fisheye effect.  More or less like this one:

My shots with the sky in the background are just done with a Samsung S2 Skyrocket phone.

Its the fisheye setting on my Canon Elph.  See post #6.  Not very high tech stuff, but it can look sort of cool.   :salute:

Btw, I know that MT "action shots" are fun, but I honestly do not use my MT that much.  It is more of a "what if" EDC item for me.  So instead of coming up with a faked action shot of me removing a switch plate with the Wave's driver, I post these goofy glamour shots.

Not really.  He asked, and I said sure.  It was nice of him to ask.

I stole my avatar from Tomcat_81.  He did sorta make it just for me, though.  :salute:

DAY 7

The Wave's stubby phillips worked well when installing the baseplate of an exterior home alarm at my 78 year old mother's house.  A person known to her  recently broke into her two vehicles and garage.  He came back two days later and rang the doorbell at midnight, resulting in her firing two shots from a .38 S&W in his general direction.  She called the police, and despite it being a "shots fired" call, it took them 30 minutes to arrive.

He has not returned.

Glad she is ok.
Did they eventually arrest him?

The police were professional and courteous, but nothing came of it.  If they guy stays away, that's good enough for us.   :salute:

My next goal for her is a DVR + exterior cameras 24/7.

Here's an aluminum belt sheath I bought on eBay.  Its about as minimalist as a sheath can get.  Drop-in style, with one finger push up from the bottom.  Holds the Wave securely, but releases easily.

It is very similar this one made by Adam Savage.  Fast forward to 28:00 if you don't want to see the whole thing.

Not really, though the Wave does leave a few marks inside the sheath.  There is really not much contact between the two.  Just enough to keep the Wave from jumping out.
