Supertool
on: September 02, 2008, 02:25:09 AM
Hello I was thinking of buying original supertool with leather sheath never used with original price tag stiil attached  from ad on craigslist. Cost of supertool is $40.00. However I read a few negative reviews on this model and discovered it was discontinued or replaced with the core model I believe a while back.
Is this a good buy or should I pass and wait for newer model wave etc..
Thanks.

If it's new I'd jump on it if your wanting a very tough tool :multi: Many here prefer the Supertool and the 200 over the Core I have been trying to find a cheaper one on Ebay without much luck :( Plus the older leather sheaths are better than the new ones as well :D

If you want to start a collection it would be wise.. But, if you want a user than I would spend the extra $20 and get the Core.. The Core has great implements too..

I like my supertool better than my core. Just seems to fit better in my hand. I'm thinking about buying another for backup for the years to come.

I've got a Super Tool and a Core. The Super Tool beats the Core on slimness. It's a lot more compact than the Core. The Core has a better locking mechanism and slightly longer drivers, I think. The locking system on the Super Tool can be awkward since you have to unfold a tool to unlock a locked one.  The reviews here on the Multitool.org main  site cover it pretty well.

I'd get the Super Tool for $40. It's worth it. I've used mine for years. 90% of the time, I'm reaching for the super tool rather than the toolbox. My current Super Tool is semi-retired to house work. I got a Core for EDC.

A ST for 40 bucks is not bad at all.

I'd get it.  I prefer the Supertool to the Core and Supertool 200 (I have only briefly held both) and it is my current EDC.  I doubt there is anything out there as tough.

I say get the Supertool too. A Supertool was the first Leatherman I got. Even though I now carry a KF4 or a Charge, my Supertool still sees use.

The Supertool was a great tool.  I didn't carry it too much because of the weight but whenever heavy duty work needed to be done, I would (and still do) use the Supertool.  I especially like the size of the knife blades...

Hello the super tool did not pan out but that is ok because I just bought a used wave in near perfect condition for $25.00 off craigslist. Now I know what is like to own a real multitool instead of the el cheapo models I also have. I thought it was the older model wave but turned out to be the newer model. Screw ebay man sometimes the best deals are close to home.
Thanks.
