Black vs red Explorer

Is it my imagination or do all black Explorers come with the old style magnifying glass?
If so, what do you recommend? The black ones seem to be a lot pricier.

There is a new Explorer (not the Plus version) on eBay here in the U.S. for $37.85 shipped.  It has the new magnifier.  That's a pretty awesome price.  Black and red are each available on U.S. Amazon Prime for $44.99 shipped.  I own a black Explorer Plus with the new magnifier.  I think all new Explorers have the new magnifier.

Can't decide?  I think there are also red and blue scales both in 1 knife :)  2-tone scales FTW!

I think all new models come with the new Mag and any scales can be added after.

I am after an old style mag with the black scales as it happens

Lovely! Can't beat yellow scales - so cheery and it's like carrying around a very useful banana.

The yellow is great looking. As well as the Stay Glow...

I gave mine a new moss green dress.

Man... I would love to have at least one SAK with those StayGlow scales.

But back to topic... here in Germany they also sell the red ones and black Explorers. But each color seems to have the new magnifier lens. Not the old, grey one. I like the looks of the old one better, though.

Green! Nice!

But I think yellow is the winner. Why oh why doesn't Victorinox make more yellow in Europe? Such a great colour!

And why don't they make brighter green scales for 91 mm knives like they do for 58 mm versions?

Where do you get those yellow scales? I've also seen white and they look pretty cool.

Swissbianco used to sell them.  Not sure if they still do but you can google them and check their web site.

Got mine from Swissbianco via Ebay, and they still do have 'em.

swisstool.co.uk have a broad selection of solid colours on the Vic core range - including yellow :tu: - and an amazing selection of custom scales.
They ship internationally and I have always had good service from them.

Don't think they do scales on their own tho !

I found them but does Swissbianco seriously charge $10 to ship a pair of scales?

I replaced the scales from a few.
My son has now a blue one. Match perfect with my Swisschamp.
