Where does the brilliant phrase 'Cheese it' when you are running away come from? We use it all the time, although it's been recently replaced with 'Run Lillian!' from Kimmy Schmidt.

One of the benefits of my new place is that we ate right on the border of China Town and Little Italy, so there is an excellent variety of foods available to us, just a short walk from the house.  One little Italian store just on the corner had an excellent selection of cheeses, and I have always been a cheese junky.

Last week I picked up some medium old smoked cheddar that is simply to die for.   The next day I picked up some Asiago, and I'm sitting here right now having a few small chunks of each, and it is simply amazing.

Anyone else here a fan of good cheeses?

Oh, it is delicious indeed -and you can't have any. It's MINE, all mine... :neener:

I haven't backed out of the Swisschamp thing!  There's a special feta-halloumi mix fermenting in the sun just waiting to be made into a Swisschamp. It only needs for the brine residues to dry up.  ::)

I had some more of the Asiago and smoked cheddar with my breakfast this morning, and I have to say, neither is going to get much older!  I'm almost out.

I also have some Monterrey Jack with some jalapeno bits in it that I will have to concentrate on until I can resupply!

We moved here over 10 years ago, back then it was really hard to find Cheddar of any sort, then the "plastic" kind showed up, and now pretty much every supermarket has a proper (white/old/mature) cheddar or two on the shelves.

I believe we're at a point where we pretty much have cheese of one kind or another at least once a day... :P

Pah.  According to the Cheese Board there are over 700 types of cheese in the UK. 8)

Actually, there are "700 named British cheeses" that does not necessarily translate to 700 types.
In Switzerland we have 450 types based on Milk (cow,sheep...), fat-content, and water content. We probably have over 700 different mountain cheeses... now that is worthy of 8)
[/abitofbragging]
It wouldn't be the internet without people complaining.

OH MY GOD !
Porto has been on my list for a long time, but now I HAVE to get there.
And maybe stay.
This is not a little French girl, that's all of Mont Martre, at its most pompeuse, all at once.

You can get them all over the country. Recently, we had a francesinha festival in Lisboa, with lots of restaurants preparing them. The sauce is a very important part of the recipe. Very hot and spicy.
