Victorinox Trooper?
on: May 12, 2016, 04:27:27 AM
Picked this up the other day.  If my research is correct it's a Victorinox Trooper.

It's in pretty good shape - just a couple of small rust looking spots on the blade and cap lifter, and a small white dot on the scale (both visible in the photos).  The blade cuts well and seems to have never been sharpened.  Tools have really good 'snap'.

I can't find any info on how old it might be.  Anyone know?

Cheers!

It was discontinued around '03 IIRC.

I just remembered buying some back in '83 so they go back at least that far.

You are correct, it is a Trooper (basically a German Army Knife without the Bundesadler).

It has a victorinox tang stamp with small V, as far as I know that means it is 1986 or before.

So great catch

As early as 1978....note the round area for the emblem on the Trooper illustration. I wonder if the early production scales were actually like that.

The Trooper is probably my favorite model they're produced. It performs like a much larger knife, and works great for outdoors work with the integrated saw/bottle opener. The corkscrew has come in handy when a traditional wine opener goes missing....
