And this Tinker...

Reminds me doesn't seem like they were worried about naming these... I assume this was from the US market.

Maybe the economy stamp cost was negligible... nevertheless it's a collectors item for me as I seldom see that kind of tang stamp...

Here's a collage of the tang stamps I have...

Finished these custom scales for my Ecoline since it has a rare tang stamp and is therefore worth holding on to.
(Image removed from quote.)

Since it is an Ecoline, I won't be missing T&T.

Just need to finish it off with a few layers of varnish to level the shield with the scale.

BEAUTIFUL. What's the material made of?  :like: :like: :like:

The nylon scales of the 111 mm’s are my favorite material. If you EDC one for years, the rough structure polishes into a dull shining surface. But it will take years of tough pocket wear!
In my collection I have a few nylon 91 mm’s, but the’re all promotional items and quickly became queen shelfs.

My one favorite 91 mm Victorinox is the Handyman. It has many tools you have no really need for in daily home and business life, however IF you need them, you’re probably in some kind of trouble and you’ll be so glad to have them with you!
So I saw one being offered on an on-line Dutch markerplace and I ordered it. Total cost was € 50, which isn’t very cheap, but neither expensive. It arrived today.
To my big suprise it was a genuine Ecoline Handyman, with box + label !!
I think it is dated around 2000-2005.

I love her so much, that now she is becoming one of my shelf queens. Sorry…

Addition:
By coincidence I found this advertisement, dated autumn 2013. It was advertised by the the Dutch Victorinox importer, a company named Homeij.
It says "limited edition".

So the SAKs I should look for are the ones with ECONOMY on the main blade, the ones with the old shield and the SAKs with nylon scales.
I will see what I can find tomorrow, I think I have some in my collection.  :hatsoff:

Cool find!  :like:  It should be from around 2004-2005, because the main blade has the old style tang stamp with a crossbow on a 2.0mm thick tang, as shown in the following image:

It's an interesting SAK, because the Handyman wasn't usually available in an EcoLine version. Also, the model number that is written on the box is quite strange. An EcoLine Handyman should be just 3.3773, but this one is 5V3.3773. Maybe it's something that was made specifically for the Dutch market.  :dunno:

Can you check if the liner near the corkscrew is anodized? "Real" 91mm EcoLine SAKs lack any anodized liners, whereas the liner near the corkscrew is anodized in the regular line. I'm curious about this one. Thanks!

I find it so interesting that two of the three SMICO Canada series VSAKs were "Economy" branded and the third was not.  Wonder what their thinking was on that one....

I've also seen the Spartan/"Hiker" knife in this series with Elinox tang stamp and no "Economy" stamp on the obverse.

I think the liner is not anodized. Must admit: I can't see a clear difference between anodized and not anodized. That's my own total lack of any technical knowledge! One could say the knife is the Handyman, not me...

Yes, there are cellidor scales in the older (first?) economy series. No toothpick/tweezers slots and hot stamped shields of the federal shape.

Does anybody have the full version of this catalog ? :hatsoff:

Thanks, but I cannot tell from these pictures. The kind of pictures from which one can usually tell are pictures of the back of the SAK that are taken with a cellular phone using the flash (at some mild angle). The point is that non-anodized liners are mirror-like and reflect light only in certain directions, whereas anodized liners scatter light in all directions. Hence, the very directional light from the cell phone led flash lets you see the difference. I attach an image of the back of a cybertool 29 showing this effect. The cybertool 29 is special in that it has two different liners touching each other (the anodized one and the thick one right next to it). You can see that the non-anodized liners reflect light similarly to the springs separated by them, whereas the anodized liner looks very different.

Another way is to check electric conductance. Non-anodized liners are excellent conductors whereas undamaged anodized liners are essentially insulators (they should have measured resistance in the range of megaohms).
