what did I get?
on: May 21, 2016, 04:55:20 PM
I just stopped by a flea market and while I didn't get any fleas, I did find a SAK.  I'm not sure what model it is though.  It does not have a key ring, or toothpick and tweezers.  There is an advertising emblem on it that says Sika but that's probably not relevant.

The large blade has Victorinox Switzerland Stainless Rostfrei on one side and

Victoria Officer Suisse on the other, with the crossbow.

The can opener has a Swiss cross and PAT..

The smaller knife blade is unmarked but is a clip point rather than a spear point blade.

The other tools are a reamer and a Phillips driver, and there is a file ground into the inside edge of the Phillips driver.

Tinker, that's what I thought.  Thanks for the reply.  It's a nice little knife with good snap. I got it for a good price too.

Looks great!  I love the very old Swiss Army Knives, they're better built than the newer ones.

Sika is a building products company, based in Germany.  Link to their US website.

How old do you think this knife is?

Small Tinker, about 1970-1973 would be my guess.

Nice find!  I'd be happy to adopt it for you...

I've been playing with this knife all day.  I'm quite pleased with it.  It was hard to open when I got it, but I oiled it when I got home and it is perfect now.  Not a bad save for $5.00.

If there's a file on the inside of the Phillips, that makes it pre 65...?
There is no beginning,or ending, and for this we are thankful, cos now is hard enough to understand!

Any other guesses on the age of this SAK?  I've been carrying it since Saturday morning, but if it's pre-1965 then it is older than I am and maybe I should put it away and not use it.

FYI, Sika is a pretty old Swiss company well known for its mortar and other chemicals that are used in construction.

It wouldn't be the internet without people complaining.
