One overlooked survival item (or maybe not allowed on the show? ) is something for entertainment. Once you have food and shelter you very well might get bored....

So Id bring an ebook reader loaded with books and a solar charger for that.  If it was allowed of course, but I dont remember seeing anything like that.  Or maybe even your fav paperback or anything really.  Significant advantage to pass the time and since the goal is to survive and outlast, that is significant to me.

Ah so it is limited.  I looked up on history.com they have to choose their 10 items from this list.

Shelter

1. 12×12 ground cloth/tarp (grommets approved)
2. 8 mm climbing rope – 10M
3. 550 parachord – 20m
4. 1 hatchet
5. 1 saw
6. 1 ax

Bedding

1. 1 multi-seasonal sleeping bag that fits within provided backpack
2. 1 bivy bag (Gore-Tex sleeping bag cover)
3. 1 sleeping pad
4. 1 hammock

Cooking

1. 1 large (no more than 2 quart) pot, includes lid
2. 1 steel frying pan
3. 1 flint or ferro rod set
4. 1 enamel bowl for eating
5. 1 spoon
6. 1 canteen or water bottle
7. 1 bear canister

Hygiene

1. 1 bar soap
2. 1 8 oz tube of toothpaste
3. 1 face flannel
4. 1 40 m roll of dental floss
5. 1 small bottle bio shower soap
6. 1 shaving razor (and 1 blade)
7. 1 towel (30” x 60”)
8. 1 comb

Hunting

1. 1 300-yard roll of nylon single filament fishing line and 25 assorted hooks (No lures)

I have the little silky boy one and it cuts insanely well.  High end Japanese pruning saws for the win.

There is an even bigger one!  The katanaboy 650.  Its 200 bucks though. :D  If I had money in my paypal Id buy one.. just to see the looks Id get when I took it out when camping.

The replacement blades for it are 100 bucks.. but boy would that ever make a great saw blade for a GIANT SAK. :D

I would be mainstream on this, with a lean towards wood work and fishing,


1. Sleeping bag
2. Gore Tex cover for sleeping bag
3. Axe

5. Bush knife - probably a Condor bushlore or custom like it
6. Large pot (to their specifications)

9. 20m paracord (or Emergency Rations if I can take two)

Picking from that list is boring... It is also interesting that clothing AND backpack are not part of that deal... So I would take the largest Camel-Back. The right choice of cloth will reduce the need for shelter items a lot.

Anyway here are my 10
1. Tranquilizer Gun
2. Bottle of chloroform
3. Batch of Norovirus
4. Pack of Rubber gloves
5. Binoculars
6. Night Vision Goggles
7. Large pack of Energy Bars
8. Spirit RT - Never leave home without my precious.
9. Canvas - To keep me warm and protected from the elements
10. Turboflame lighter - Just in case, all the other contestants bring are ferro-rods.

Strategy:
Live of the energy bars, find the other contestants. Use tranquilizer gun to incapacitate them. Double up with chloroform. Rob them naked, literally. Drip some Norovirus in their mouth, just in case being naked in the wilderness does not persuade them to give up >:D

Strategy:
Live of the energy bars, find the other contestants. Use tranquilizer gun to incapacitate them. Double up with chloroform. Rob them naked, literally. Drip some Norovirus in their mouth, just in case being naked in the wilderness does not persuade them to give up >:D
