What NOT to do before bedtime...
on: June 06, 2016, 11:53:38 PM
Gotta stop drinking Pepsi Max before bedtime... ! As much as I like this 0 calorie soda that helps me to relax, the stuff gives me a smurfing buzz and I'm laying awake at 3 AM wondering if I'll fall asleep before 6AM....  :ahhh

My caffeine cutoff time is 9pm. However, I also have a relatively powerful sleep med for those times I'm still wide awake around 11.....

My caffeine event horizon is 4:00 p.m.  Sometimes I will pop an Advil before bed, as I think it may help just a little - though it could be completely psychological.  But as long as I think it works, then it does work.

I cut caffeine at 6 PM.  If extremely active will take two Tylenol before bed to help relax the legs, otherwise cramps are likely, not fun.

I could never understand this. Caffeine has no effect on me. I actually wish it did so I could get a pick me up before work. I even tried a double shot of espresso (I hate coffee) and it did nothing. Redbulls or other energy drinks do nothing for me besides put a huge amount of sugar in my system.

I'm a huge coffee fan and I can drink half calf up to 9 pm with no real effects.  I have been a caffeine user for so long that I guess my body is tolerant or something.  It doesn't matter if I have caffeine in me or not I have a real hard time falling asleep unless I'm exhausted.

That's me as well, Sean, minus half-caf. ;)  I've had trouble sleeping for years, and finally talked to a doctor about it a year or so ago. I now have a prescription for Trazodone, which is effective in putting me out when needed, without any grogginess the next morning.

Thought about trying some Melatonin to see if that would help me sleep, but I don't want to get addicted to anything either.

Same issue with me, which is why I don't take Ambien or another benzodiazopine.  Trazodone is non-addictive. If I don't take it, I have no issues at all.

Likewise, caffeine has no effect on me either. neither do those energy drinks...I have tried a few times out of curiosity and nothing. Don't much care for them either.

Man I struggle with it.  I even tried Melatonin for a while, before realizing it was causing the splitting headaches I would get.  I just try to meditate before bed now, that usually works unless I'm super stressed.

I have had a bad RedBull habit the past several months. I have one just about every morning during the work week. I don't drink coffee. It hurts the bank account too.

I was awake until 2am last night. Couldn't fall asleep. If I don't fall asleep right away my mind gets too active, making it difficult to catch some zzzzzzzzzzz.

Last night for instance I thought of projects I would build if i won the lottery: a wooden boat with inboard motor (thinking twin turbo v6). Mission Impossible.

I could wash down a pot of coffee with a big can of Red Bull at 10pm, and be asleep by 10:30pm.  Now, I would be waking up through the night to pee mind you, lol.

A cup of coffee at night actually makes me feel more sleepy.  I think it's because I'm drinking something hot, and it makes me feel relaxed.

My dad has this ability.  He drinks a Sugar Free rockstar every day after work, and it puts him to sleep.

Now imagine that vibration thing on your wrist!

Can tell you when you hit your daily steps, that vibration alert goes of and nearly scares ya silly if you don't know it's a comin!

I don't drink caffeine at all any more.  I have cut out drinking pop (or soda or fizzy juice, wherever you may be!) and I've never been a coffee drinker, so that pretty much clinches it for me.

The best part?  Whenever I used to talk about my insomnia people would suggest cutting out caffeine.   Well, guess what?  I have, and I still don't sleep.....

Gotta luv it, get fans arranged so it's cooling off in your room. Just enough to drift off to dreamland...

Just get to sleep and you hear the email notification. Grr, forgot to turn sound off on computer. And you know if you get up to do it the monitor's going to light up your world and ya don't want that. Turn over.

Ka-Ching! Smartphone messaging goes off. Okay... now what?

Uh oh, where did I last put the phone. Your mind is thinking, and well ... ya gotta get up to find it cause it's not on the charging cable.
Find phone, weird message: "Done, check your dispatch message. :)" Huh?? Last message was 9:03 PM and this one is suddenly at 4:27 AM. Mind is wondering, okay, that makes no sense.

Wake up monitor, BLINDING LIGHT! Go to website, smurf! forgot to record password.
Perform password recovery, get into the Australian store's site... nothing. No messages. The package done left hours ago. So, what was "done"???" ... Oh, I asked for a jazzy native Aussie bird feather to go with my hat ... yet the hat done left 7.5 hours ago.

Still no idea. Tempted to text them back. :twak: What?

Night before was KHHI asking me about the engraving... Okay, that was semi-important and easy to fix. (The blades got sent off to the shipper yesterday. Supposed to get shipment tracking today.)

I have a cure for the smartphone thing, I have set mine up to not do any noises after 10pm til 6am during the week, and 11pm til 8am during the weekend unless the caller/texter is my mom or my brother (In which case there would be an emergency in the family).
