Hoffritz branded knifes
on: June 22, 2016, 10:09:49 PM
I just got my first Super Tinker, a square shafted, slotted Philips screwdriver model.  Before I picked it up, I did a little research about Hoffritz, which lead me to believe there are a fair amount out there.  If anyone else has any, I'd love to see the pics!  In my never ending quest for SAK porn, show off your Hoffritz's!!

I have a Champion with matching pouch.

And an 84mm 136kmaU model dubbed the Journeyman by Jazzbass (i.e. small Master Craftsman) from 1969/1970.  It is tang stamped.

Hoffritz used to have a store in Grand Central Station in NY.  I used to love to browse in there but the only thing I ever bought was a nice pocket knife with a single blade, a bottle opener/screwdriver blade, and a corkscrew.  It was a lovely piece with nice wood handles but eventually accumulated enough wear and bits of rust that it went into the drawer with the other beat up knives.  I still have it and am tempted to go at it with Coca Cola or something similar to deal with the surface rust.

Hoffritz makes fine products IMHO.

Hi Barry and all......wow!!!  Nice knives all.....I have two with the Hoffritz tang stamp, a 84mm Master Craftsman and a very no frills 84mm Tinker.  No toothpick, no tweezers and no key ring, just blades.  Both have that older dark blood color to the scales and the "Victoria" stamp on the backside of the main blade.  Both are also clip small blades.

I had forgotten one very nice knife purchased in the Grand Central store about 40 years ago:

I hope the picture is clear enough.

This is the rusty one.  Nice knife but used for many years, not a collector item.

I have a Hoffritz branded knife, but it is not a Swiss knife.  It is German.   This Hoffritz Partner is around 30 years old, maybe a little older than that.  I broke the cap lifter when prying with it, and it got a little rusty after it sat under water for a couple of weeks after Hurricane Andrew in 1992 (the water was on my bedroom floor).  It is still sharp and one of my favorite knives.
