Anyone else seen these? For the price, I couldn't pass them up.

Are you referring to the SwissBianco 91mm copper scales? I saw those on his website.

Would like to hear what you think about them when they arrive.  :tu:

I need to decide which model to put them on:

Compact
or
Super Tinker

Tough decision, maybe get 2 sets!  :pok:

From what I hear they don't press fit like cellidor, more of a tape adhesive attachment. Also the copper will be significantly heavier than cellidor, but might add some heft to lighter models...

I know they will be heavier, so I'm thinking about putting them on the Compact to keep the weight down. Should go well with my copper Maratac AAA.

Well they came and the scales look great but no way to attach them? Just the scales wrapped in newspaper and his card.

This is where it gets bizarre. I called the number on the card, wrong number. I called back thinking I may have dialed it wrong the first time, same guy answers. I tell him his number is printed on a business card. I also told him the address printed on the card for Roger Remund Swissbianco. Turns out this is his home address?

He said he helped the Swissbianco guy get his green card but hasn't talked to him in several years.

So, very odd and shady if you ask me. This is my first and last time buying from him.

Any ideas how to attach these scales???

Do you have a picture of the insides of these scales?

Most likely, if there is no "lip" where they attach to the bushings, then you'll have to use a small drop of glue/epoxy on each of the the end holes where they go over the bushings...for each scale.  We'd be able to say more if we had a reasonably good picture.

As for SB and Roger, it's kind of a loosey-goosey business, but I've purchased from him a few times and it's always been fine...just email or worst case, catch him on facebook.

I emailed him before trying to call. He just got back to me and explained how to glue/epoxy them.

Seems like a nice guy but odd to use another man's home address on your business cards.

I was led to believe they attach with 2 sided adhesive tape? Maybe that didn't work out so well.  ???

I'm not sure, no two sided tape included with mine?

I had to dremel around the bushings a tad to get the scales to fit. Put a dab of glue I had on hand in each hole of the scales where the rivets fit and have it clamped up right now. Fingers crossed!

It should be fine, modern glue is pretty amazing. I have only tried it on a couple of SAKs, but it worked both times. Looking for some glamour shots when you're done!

They're very nice but HEAVY! I know copper is heavy and I was prepared for it but it actually surprised me how hefty it makes the Compact feel. It now weighs 120 grams.  :ahhh

I'm looking forward to watching the patina come on!

Nice, FlintHills, great pictures and info!   :tu:

Boy, at 120 grams for a Compact, that makes it 4.2oz...which means each side of those scales weighs close to .8 or .9oz each!  As pretty as they are, I'm re-thinking a purchase...unless I put those on something I'm not going to pocket carry.

Put a slight bend in the pen and now it locks in place.

Ya for sure you woudl want to epoxy and clamp so you did it the right way.  I would like to see a pic of the inside.  Did he pocket out as much material as possible to keep weight down.  Weight is the big down side with brass or copper scales.

Everything fit pretty well into the scales except for the pin which is loose.

I should have taken pics of the inner side before putting them on! They did have some material removed but I don't know if it's as much as possible. I would say not, they are fairly thick and hefty. We're in the middle of packing for our move but I will get some pics for you sometime, Syph. Titanium is less than half the weight of copper, so I am waiting for you to start selling your titanium scales!  :D

Im playing the, remove a bunch of material and check weight game right now on the Ti.  I think I can get half the weight removed from each scale by pocketing in 0.070" of a 0.100 thick scale.  And leaving a rib structure.
