The like button and the ability to click on pictures to see a bigger size are two that come to mind.

Trying it on a PC, and I hate to say it, but I don't like it either. :(   The mass voids on the left with the user info, the missing post count (I know, not a big deal, but it's something I enjoyed seeing quickly), the space where the signatures and badges are just doesn't look right, and the mass amount of white space makes it look like a sterile environment.  The top menu bar looks out of place, and unpolished.

I agree with Dmac, just doesn't flow well and the white background is really hard on my eyes. If it was greyer with some darker contrast around the edges it would be much better. Also not a fan of the dark red lettering on white on the main menu.

And I keep thinking that little piece of paper looking thing on the right side of the posts is the quote function, but it just brings me to an error page.     (the  is for me, not the design)

The Like button and the photo resizing were both modules that are not compatible with our new theme.  It's possible in the future we may be able to find replacements, but for now they are indeed gone.

The background color is something I think we can address- I have been using this theme for weeks now and while it does seem bright, I got used to it and don't mind it a bit, but I can certainly understand why you say that, and I think it should be a relatively easy fix.

This is going to take some time to get use to, but some far it looks fine.

That said, I would like to get if not post counts back, at least the member rankings.

Not sure about it. I only ever access MTO on a mobile and what I loved about the old site was that the main landing page used to display the most recent post under each sub-heading, so it was really easy to see at a single glance what was going on, now it seems I have to click on each sub-forum to see the most recent posts?

I appreciate it's a free to use site and a lot of hours & hard work have gone into this for our benefit, but if it's no longer so easy to just see at a glance what is happening on each forum from the main page, I'm not sure I'll be able to check in as often.

Ps, there probably is a way to see all the most recent posts displayed and I just haven't found it yet.

All new things take a little getting use to but overall I think I'll like it.  :tu: The little details will be worked out over time.
Not a fan of the maroon font on the forum page and sub forum titles. Maybe a little back ground color to make it easier on old eyes.

OK. First off, let me say that I appreciate everything that is done to admin this monster. This place keeps me sane-ish a lot of days where I really do feel like arguing with a freight train, and it is a lot of work to admin something like this. Def, you and the mods have a created an amazing space, and the members keep it that way. THank you.

No it's time to get the poking stick. THere will be no appologies.

One, it's too white. It reminds me of ipads, ipods, iphones and toilets. I know some poeople probably didn't like the old grey background, but it gave this place a less sterile feel. Think not so much an old gentleman's club, but that space behind the garage where a couple of mechanics and their buddies might hang out on a Friday night. This... this feels like a medicinal. I really don't like it. Can we please get an option for night or dark or stealth or whatever we want to call it? This kind of contrast just has too little contrast, too much white. It won't make me leave, but it doesn't make me want to stay and prowl the back posts or the subforums that I normally wouldn't care about (like Gerber or SOG). This is really hard on my eyes after a long day, when I just want to be a troglodyte and sit in my dark apartment.

Secondly, the gutter down the left. I haven't tried this on my phone yet, maybe it is amazing on a tiny screen. But on my normal monitors, it's a quarter the page and it is just wasted space. Visually that makes it feel like we just slapped a kit into place and didn't tweak it. If we are going to have that huge space, maybe we could move the merit badges over there rather than cluttering up everyone's signature area. Also, I miss the post counts and our tag lines- get suppressing them for bandwidth, but we keep the badges? That seems backwards to me.

Finally, this is a big one.

When I went back to see how something I had posted was displaying, why am I looking at my IP? Look, I know, it's easy to get an IP. But really, just leaving it flopped out there like a dead fish on the beach? I'm a little bothered by that. And it doesn't seem to be effecting most people. So who'd I piss off now?

And now that I've read some people's comments, we will need to do something about the photo resize thing. There are forums I go to that are nigh on usable if some dumb slob posts a huge photo because it doesn't rescale, while others force everything to be itty bitty and useless for anything with more detail than hello kitty. Is there any way all we can get a comperable function for the new look?

I think it would go along way to add the contrasting colors or shade scheme of the old . Like the sticky threads being one color and the borders and every other post being a different shade as well all add up to being easier on the eyes.

I didn't realize your IP was showing.  Mods and Admins have always been able to see member IP's, so that is something that never occurred to me.  I'll get Micah on that ASAP.

Just to keep all of your concerns in one place, please post any fixes, bugs etc in this thread:

Micah has time to comb the forum or deal with problems, so let's try to lighten his workload and post everything in one place for him!

Aloha, I can't see yours.

Oh... Are we doing that thing where you can see your IP but not other people's? Now I feel like an idiot, I've seen other forums do that to.

That's a relief!  I thought for some reason people's IP's were showing to everyone!  I'm glad that isn't the case because I would take that very seriously as well.

Goodbye old format. You will be missed.
The new format feels like a Swiza. It's new, and cute, but I also want scissors and saws.

I vote for "tactical" or "black oxide."
