I should have also mentioned my SwissTool. For fit and finish, you will not find a better MT, I guarantee it!!

All the tools are top notch, and it has what I consider to be the best tool load out. The only problem I have with it is the small cutters on the pliers. They cut very well, but they're too small. The ST300 has perfect sized cutters.

So I found a way to get both  :tu:

I picked up a brand new surge today with a gift card and sale.

And I'm in the process of getting a used ST300 for 20 dollars.

I will try and do a write up onorth both and comparison but gotta say if the ST feels similar ( or better as said by some) I'm gonna love both.

Initial playing around tho and I realize the scissors on the surge don't cut much.. barely touched the package it came in... ?

Everyone has the right idea. St3 or the Surge. Both have their own advantages. You can't go wrong with either.

But, one thing to note is the surge you can't carry (on the tool) both the file and saw simultaneous, which is a drawback imo.

My experience with the Surge's scissors has been entirely positive. They're sharp, precise, and very strong. Hopefully you didn't get a lemon... Are you a lefty by any chance?

Mine too, I have never had any issues with a Surge scissors, and I use mine a lot. Best cutter for cable ties. I am a lefty too.

Not a lefty. And hopefully I didn't get a bad one. I will continue to test it out and hopefully do a video review soon.

So wanted to put some good time and work into my surge before reviewing it.  But this happened today.

All might not be lost if you magnetise the remaining jaw - you could use it to pick up ferrous objects.

Yes I am going to try. I don't have the receipt though so I'm not sure if I'm able to. But I can't afford to pretty much throw away a 100 dollar tool.

It wasn't even a rough job. I was changing locks and needed to pry a little piece off and snap.

I've heard the LM warranty is pretty good - others with experience will chime in soon.

Wow, I've never seen that. How hard were you prying with it? Must be a bad cast to do that.  If leatherman won't cover it then message Loki-mobile off here, he had some plier heads for sale in the trade section. I would think LM will replace it though.

No need for a receipt. The tool itself has a 25 year warranty. Give them a call, tell them what happened and send it in.

+1

Leatherman stands by their warranty. They'd probably replace it even if you told them you took a hammer to it to break the jaws. Send it in, they will take care of your tool

Honesty not hard at all. It was pretty weird that it snapped the way it did. I've used crappy wally world brand pliers that have taken more pressure than it. So I'm hoping it's a flawed setc.

Sucks that I need it for my job but I can't afford to just replace it. Hah

Can you post macro shot of that broken surface? I would love to see if it has something wrong with casting.
