Quote from: jerseydevil on July 19, 2016, 07:53:24 AMI found my '79 on Facebook in an Alox group. A member here posted it for sale, and I jumped on it. I'd been looking for some time with no luck. As a bonus, Mr. Whippy also had a '79 marked OC Pioneer which he was nice enough to make a trade for. So, after years of no luck, I found two 79's in two weeks!I tried to get that 79 but you were just a little faster. Next time I need to jump on it. That 79 was an awesome deal, and that blade wasn't all that bad.

Quote from: flbeachbum on July 27, 2016, 09:33:20 AMI'm looking for a 74 at a reasonable price. Prefer a Vic but not a requirement.Good luck with that. Victorinox didn't officially produce a Soldier knife in '72 or '74. That having been said, a very small number of 1974 knives were produced, but expect to pay a smurf ton of money for one as collectors are quite rabid when they become available. There are a few options though:1974 AMEFA Soldier:(Image removed from quote.)1974 Camillus Demo Knife:(Image removed from quote.) This image is the Camillus Demo knife, the KL74 and two 1974 Wenger SI's.Def

I can confirm Wenger has the year '72. Mine's not in the best shape though... Doesn't matter, I'm younger
I've seen my birth year SAK for sale, a 59 Wenger Trouble is I don't have a spare £121 just now.Typically, when I do have the funds there are none to be found anywhere.
Happened upon this 77 a few years ago. Weird thing was I had access to a 77 wenger a week later but passed on it. Haven't seen a single one since.

Only the early models from the 60's are red.Your best chances to find an affordable Soldier model from the '70s are on ricardo.ch (a Swiss eBay-like auction site). Some sellers are willing to ship outside of Switzerland if you ask them kindly Good luck! Thanks! The ricardo site looks like it should be fruitful. On the red handles, thats what I was thinking too, but the wiki says there were some red ones made for a few odd years, under the variations header. So if its true...... thats the one I want...... http://www.sakwiki.com/tiki-index.php?page=Soldier+1961'61 Soldier Evolution::'61 Soldier Design Evolution::Models produced during the years of 1962 through 1964 were made with Red Alox Scales. Some 1965, 1970, and 1975 models were produced with Red Alox scales (Silver also available). Be prepared to pay used car prices for those.....
