Can you help me identify this Charge?
on: July 17, 2016, 09:52:24 PM
Hi,
Thanks for the help - I tried to search the forum first.  This seems to have all the Charge accessories, including the foil cutter, except the serrated blade doesn't have a cutter hook.  Other sources said it's a Ti, not a TTi, but the picture of the Ti showed allen or torx bolts.  Its bolt heads are knurled, if that is the right word.  Stamped on the inside is "0707".  I attached a pic, but don't see it in the preview.  Hope it works.
Thanks!

Welcome to the forum. :tu:

I think that's a Charge AL.  What internal tools does it have?

If the handle is jet black, it is a Charge AL. If it is gray with a bit of shine, it is a Charge SLV. Both AL and SLV are the same, except for the handles' colors. The Charge SLV is a harder to come by one.

It has: 154cm knife blade, file & diamond sharpener, saw, serrated knife blade, can opener, bit holder with reversible phillips, flat bits, large flat screwdriver, tiny bit holder with flat and phillips screwdrivers, scissors, plus pliers, ruler marks on the edge.
The scales appear to be dull gray.
I really appreciate all the help.  This is my first leatherman and won't be my last.

It looks like an Charge AL to me.

The SLV (Silver) is quite a light grey colour - that looks closer to black in your pic.

A very nice first Leatherman, if I may say so. At the time it was made that was one of Leatherman's "top of the range" tools. I have no idea what's happened in the last 6 years though :P

Somehow I think it is a SLV. By "dull gray", do you mean like blue-ish gray? The AL scale is literally black.

You might be right you know chrono. It's like that blue/gold dress - every time I look at his picture it looks different!

Possibly an SLV.

If you want to see some photos that may be helpful, check my signature link below "Leatherman Series Articles" and head off to the Charge section.
A little Leatherman information.

You folks are great!  Thanks for all the help.  I didn't want my first Leatherman to be anonymous.  Based on your help and DaveK's excellent video, I'm calling it a Charge SLV.  The first pic was a little dark.  By the way, I picked up a Juice Pro.  I'm hooked.

Yes the pic in this post makes it definite that it is an SLV  Glad you liking it and the Pro is a great LM to have as well

It's a slippery slope.

Very, very slippery. Good fun though  :tu:

Definitely an SLV based on that latest pic as Poncho says. Nice SLV

I don't know if you did it on purpose, but both of those tools happen to have been Costco exclusives....Excellent choices, IMO

@lanloper: which Leatherman have you set your eyes on next? Your Charge SLV is basically a Wave, so you can skip on that popular model. But you will eventually buy a Wave, because everybody has one  :D

Also, welcome to the forum

Welcome to the forum. If you've come here for council on avoiding an expensive addiction you are in the wrong place.  The standard question of "which one" is always answered with, "get both."  Make sure you take lots of pictures though. We do love pictures.  I'm really looking forward to seeing a picture of your new Rebar with your morning coffee, but I'll give you a couple of days.  :pok:

Thank you for the big welcome and all the help.  I'm waiting for a used Wave to arrive from ebay.  The Charge SLV looks like it was never sharpened or used, so I'm not going to beat it up, and use the Wave as my EDC.  Since you said you like pics, here's my Juice Pro.
So I'm satisfied for now.  I can quit any time I want.  Wait.  What's a Rebar?  I need to do some research...

The SLV is a great looking tool.  I had such a hard time getting a hold of a Juice PRO glad to see you got one.  Its also a pretty nice one.
