Well..... Used the chisel version to clean some deer heads and washed it with fresh soapy water

Forgot to wipe the blade off and it rusted overnight. Going to be an uphill battle eh?

I've had less issues with carbon Moras than with 1095. A lot less

just wash and dry after use,I prefer carbon over SS as find it quicker to sharpen ,plus i like a patina on my knives as shows there actually used  :tu:

511 basic really crappy sheath retention, I suppose this is due to the all plastic handle whereas a companion for example has the rubber overmold and stays in pretty tight, this guy flies out with very little pressure and is pretty disappointing. I was thinking of putting an o ring around knife and sheath, kinda remember someone mentioning it but too many posts to look through so does anyone know what size o ring? It was only$9.65 so I will keep it, doubt exchanging it will solve the issue due to the materials of handle, but need to make it more secure.

It was kind of dangerous, you could easily shake it out or lose the knife, I'll post some pics tomorrow, it's an easy fix, but gotta say it's a poor design.

I don't have a 511, but most Mora sheaths are better than what you've experienced.

I have a few companions, kansbol, bushcraft, eldris and 2 craftline all have good sheath retention, this was the only problematic one, but its much better with the tape.

I think that's one of the newer designs of that model, Still odd that the issue was there

Thats strange. None of mine has that issue. But mine have the grey sheath and dark red handle.
Ill check if its a common issue, the next time I se them in a store.

I’ve got two 511’s, the bottom one from 1983 and the top from 2015. The sheath on the 1983 is split so I retired it. The sheath on the 2015 is worse than useless

It doesn’t retain the knife, the slightest nudge will knock it out

they're far from useless-  :twak:
if the tape trick doesn't work use them for other stuff.  :tu: I've used my orange Mora sheath to carry a Maxam knife and a Hultafors knife without issues, and the green one from my Companion HD has been used on occasion to sheath pruners and scissors and they fit perfectly there.

they are good sheaths and the slight issues they might have from one bad batch that slipped QC can be remedied with tape, adhesives or heating and molding the sheath itself   :salute:

Hope the tape trick works Smashie.
