How do you like the Companion? Maybe consider a Bahco 2444, basically a Companion with a 2mm thick spine? It's a great slicer.

Of those you list, I like the 511's blade the best: If I am not mistaken, it has the same dimensions and profile like the 510, only finger guard added. I love my (newer style) 510.

The handle on the Pro C and Robust is very comfortable, though I don't really care for the added rubbery material, but their profile isn't a great all-rounder, not for me anyways.

Considering that I've got only the Companion and Classic #1 (or maybe #2?), and that Bushcraft black, Kansbol and Garberg are out of my price range for now, hence those 3 models.
What I'll be doing with 'em? Simple - bumming around. A few fires, a few lunches here and there, some fishing (well gutting the fish). Nothing spectacular

It is pretty much impossible to get the fish smell off the rubber style handles.

Can't believe I managed to forget the 510. So plastic handle is what I'm after. Wait, Zoid do you have any issues with your modified Bahco and that smell?

About the rubber handle, I wouldn't know about the smell of fish as I don't fish but I'll take zoid's word for it. What I can tell you is that mine seem to absorb a little sweat and grease off my hand so I need to wash them every now and then. Nothing too bad so far, though.

 Are you talking about the 510 or the Companion's handle?

But yes, I see the 510 as the Companion's smaller, more agile twin brother with a different -and lovely- handle. (In fact, half the 510's appeal for me is that handle; its shape lends itself to all sort of grips.)

Edit: I think I'm going to start a 510 admirers club. Need to take some piccies first, though :D

Is it just me, or does this seem like a very good price on the Kansbol? https://www.heinnie.com/mora-kansbol  £24 + P&P is a lot lower than the going rate that I can see elsewhere.

Not sure what the the exchange is but they are running 35 USD here. Low enough to snag one.

Ok. Here it is 35 USD shipped to my door. That does not seem to bad to me. And let's face it, the Kansbol is a full tang blade. The Tang just stops below the lanyard hole.
So a full tang Mora with the grind of a 2000 for 35 freedom bucks, that seems ok to me. I maybe bias because I really want one.

IMO pretty good.
Round one looked a bit wack so after getting the wood and washing in I had another go which looked better.
Will take some pics of it soon.

Yeah, great knife but if you've used it for fishing then you probably won't want to use it as a picnic knife the next day.
