Guy I'm gutted. JPST in bad shape.

Got a JPST in and tab where the inside tools stop was sticking up so I

Ok let me breathe.   I was just going to leave it alone and then I  :twak:

Breathe.....

I tapped it with a ball peen hammer a few times and  :-[.

It was really sticking up to where the tools bent upwards terribly.  I had no intention on using the tool so I should have left well enough alone.  I swear I tapped it firm but not whacked it.  The metal must have been fatigued and when I tried to coax it back it resented me.

I'm sick.  I think I need to lay down.

I know the feeling, I once foolishly tried to straighten the tip of a vintage Victorinox round awl... it's a sickening feeling when one is sitting there looking at the piece that just snapped off as a result of ones Clarkson-like hammer skills.

I am still sick about it.  I normally just leave well enough alone.  I  :twak: myself with the hammer but I still don't feel better.  SIGH>

Bummer. Reckon that's going to hinder things a bit. If you happen to know a very good welder they might be able to help you.
What? Enablers! Are you serrrrious? Where? I dont see any.

I could sell it on the bay of fleas for $100

I'm not exactly sure whats next.  I got it cheap since it came with the issue of the raised metal.  I'll see if getting it welded then making it a user makes sense.

Still bummed for you as I have a JPST that I bought with the tab already gone and know how you feel :( Hope you can get it fixed and at least make a good user out of it  If nothing else cut the rivets off and put the tools in another newer PST, plier head as well  :pommel: That would be pretty cool to me :tu:

Well this hasn't been my month for PSTs.  I broke the plier on an old PST mid 80's ( non dated, inch ruler only, left hand can opener ).  As much as I love my Wave I love PSTs so I tend to carry them and use them.  I secretly hope to bump into Mr Tim Leatherman and get it engraved .

This PST just snapped.  I was cranking on a bolt ( not rusted ) when pop.  The jaw fell to the ground so I didn't recover it.  I was up on a roof at the time.  I may scavenge the JPST or parts and make a  hybrid JPST/PST.  I wish the JPST handle with the large font was usable on the JPST tho.  That would have been awesome.

Oh well.
