There is a button at the bottom of the Tools page (and every Wiki page!) that tells you all you need to know!!

Note If you are on a smartphone the button is between the tools page and the menu panels!!

Was it the Victorinox Tool-Knife Tables page? It's the most recently created/updated, I think...

There's something that looks new to me. The little red wrench icon in awl the Tool Guides and Images, that lets you see the details and/or open a small pop-up window with the image, without leaving the main page you were in.

OK Knights - Quiz is over - Nobody got the answer to Q3 ....    :pok:
Maybe it was just a bit too hard - or only for Wiki nerds/OCDers/editors like me!!

The final prize tally is tickets into the next MTo GAW of their choice to pfrsantos (2 tickets), Echotech and Z1913 (one each) for the earlier questions - I am tempted to give pfrsantos another prize for effort on Q3 - But probably won't -  >:D - But will see how I feel at GAW ticket time   ;)    :D

So the Tools page, which as you remember is the third most popular page in the whole of the Wiki, was lacking in colour and images, this needed to be addressed - and it is awlso awlways good to make a Wiki page more compact.

So to Q3
The question was: To tell me reasonably precisely what the last changes were to the Tools page -
So the answer is:
- 6 new images were added to the page: The CyberTool, Wenger Wrench, Wenger tweezers, Vic tweezers, Wenger S557, and the SwissCard (two images were moved a little, but that is neither here, nor there!!)
- Also two sections at the bottom of the page (Instructions Leaflets and Image Galleries) were reformatted and converted from one column into two side by side columns - Just to make it a little more compact!

How do I know this?
Well the answers are all in the Wiki Tool Page's History page, which is accessed by clicking on the History button at the bottom of the page. See the image below:

The answer can be found in two ways:
A - By clicking on the Compare button and selecting the appropriate radio buttons for the versions you want to compare. This way is a little unfriendly as it compares the Wiki source code - But you can see pretty well what is happening
B - The other way is to view an earlier version - You can do this by clicking on the little wrench icon, by a version, and that will take you to that version of the page. You can then page back and forward through the versions, if you will, to compare versions.

Note: This History capability is available for all Wiki pages ....... :tu:

I have a question. I just purchased a soft touch Spartan with the same blade as the Road Tour series. The wiki says the only 91mm model was the Climber. Is it possible this one was modified? If it’s just extremely rare I don’t really want to pop the scales off to look for clues. I tried searching and didn’t come up with much.

Hi Grouch

Very, very interesting - I have not heard of that model - So soft scales like the RT Climber - Right?

Can i suggest creating a new thread in the SAK forum with this question then everyone will see it
put a nice clear title like:

Anyone come across a Spartan with the Road Tour series scales?    ..... or such like

Don't put a generic title like "A question"  !! (unfortunately lots of members do this!! )
Then hopefully you'll get a good response

I woudl like to know the answer too

*******************************************************************************************************************************************

****************************************** Original Text From This First Post **********************************************

SAKWiki, as I am sure everyone on this board knows, is a brilliant and amazing source of information for SAK fans  :D
What is even better is that it was set up, and is maintained, by MTo members  :tu:
To those people, past and present, who created and look after our Wiki we are eternally grateful  :salute:

Several of us here maintain the Wiki and I thought it would be good to get a thread going where we record what we have done - so others can see, and maybe check it out.
Eg - I know a lot of work was done by a couple of members led by enki over the turn of the year to make some corrections following a software change.
And when I go in there I can see that other folk have done stuff  - Eg some good pictures have been recently added

I have done quite a bit of work on it this year - Most of it just minor corrections and format changes –  I rarely change the actual information content - But a few more significant updates.
Here’s my list:

New page
  • For the Pioneer X – Including adding it into the various index pages and Related Knives sections - Yay
Significant restructuring of pages
  • The Companion 58mm – Juggled the History, Variations, Scales, Identifiers sections added Executive as related
  • The Swisschamp – Made SOS kits a separate section and other stuff
  • The Cybertool – Made the Variations a separate section (it was stuck in the middle of the models) and other stuff
  • The Scissors Tool Page – Added in Pioneer scissors and revised comment about gold rivet
Similar updates to multiple pages
Note: I did not do a systematic review/search of the whole site - I just update stuff when I see it!!
  • The layer index pages were very out of date for discontinued models etc – I have updated most of these
  • Several models are not marked as discontinued on their main page - corrected - Note: Probably some of these still to do!!
  • In many ‘Related Knives’ sections - on separate lines, there was often: an orphaned bullet, then a Wenger/Vic image, then the text. I revised this to be the image then the text with its bullet! Note: Probably lots of these still to do!!
  • Updated a few ‘Related Knives’ sections with additions/subtractions and re-ordering/re-wording
  • Added titles to some of the pictures
  • Corrected various links
  • Corrected a few spelling errors
  • Spread out some introductory sections into a few paragraphs - to make them a bit more readable
There you go I think that is pretty much it  :D

I am usually pretty good at recording the edits I make in the history section – So you can always see precisely what I did and compare with previous versions etc.
And please let me know if I have got anything wrong or if there are more additions - And of course if you are an existing editor you can correct it yourself.

And one plea for help to the more seasoned editors…
In the new Pioneer X page – Most of the page is OK - But the toc does not work
- I seem to have been taken to the wysiwyg editor. – And cannot fix it there – The help tells you how to get out of the wysy editor – But the button to do this is not there – So I cannot fix it.
- Can someone tell me how to do this please, or fix it themselves  :tu:

Cheers all

PS. I know there is a major chunk of work to do for the Delemonts and enki may organise this sometime – Watch this space!!

************************************************************ Do List ************************************************************
This is a do list for the Wiki editors - Which we will try and maintain with requests and additions (from the end of the thread) - and deletions when completed
Note: This is more for major pieces of work - Hopefully minor updates/corrections will be done on the fly as now
Editors - Please feel free to complete any of the below
  • Complete the Delémont 85mms – About 6 to do
  • Check and update the Delémont 'Physical specs' and 'Model Identifiers' sections – Some are done – Info is on Vic website or in the catalogue Mostly done - Could 2x check
  • Create the links from the corresponding Wenger SAK pages to the new Vic Delémont pages - Start at the Vics and work back Mostly done - Could 2x check
  • Update the tool pages with the tool to model info created by Little Tinker
  • Create a page for the Wenger Patagonia series  – Nick4 created- Huntsman completed Bit of work to finish off
  • Create a page for the Wenger leather and steel series – Huntsman plans to complete Nick4 completed
  • Create a page for the Vic Alox annual coloured Pioneer, Cadet, Classic series – And update links / reference pages Nick4 completed
  • Update the Vic Damascus page with a bit more info Nick4 completed
  • Fill in the page for the new Skipper Pro – And update links / reference pages
  • Create a series page for the Vic Classic annual crowd designed series – And update links / reference pages
Pictures required
  • Nearly all the Swiss Buck images - As they have all been lost - Thanks Photobucket :twak:

In the Color Palette page: https://sakwiki.com/tiki-index.php?page=Color+Palette

GREEN
...... Hunteris often referred to as simply green. It is a lighter colour green than Hunter, but still much darker than the pale green.

Should be Forrest instead of Hunter in the sentence, no ?  ;)

Thanks for this Zanza - Good spot! Definitely an error and a bit confusing!   :pok:   :tu:

This is what the Wiki says for the GREEN section:
Quote
The Green Group from Victorinox provides six shades: Pale green; Retro green; Hunter green; Emerald (translucent green); Sage and Forest green. Hunter is often referred to as simply green. It is a lighter colour green than Hunter, but still much darker than the pale green.

I am getting a bit confused myself - Your comment could be correct, in that the start of that last sentence should be Forrest

Although I am wondering if it should say this:
Quote
The Green Group from Victorinox provides six shades: Pale green; Retro green; Hunter green; Emerald (translucent green); Sage and Forest green. The Hunter colour variation is often referred to as simply green, and is the darkest green of the set.
Yeah - So which one is the regular green Hunter or Forrest?  ???

For example, if you look at this site - Their green looks more Hunter than Forrest!!
https://www.swisstool.co.uk/st/racing-green/

I added the colour variation comment - as I thought initially it was referring to a model!
Thoughts?

As an aside: The Pale and Retro look more blue than green to me!!    :o

For me, the sentence should be this
The Green Group from Victorinox provides six shades: Pale green; Retro green; Hunter green; Emerald (translucent green); Sage and Forest green.
Forrest is often referred to as simply green. It is a lighter colour green than Hunter, but still much darker than the pale green.

I just made this picture of a Forrest Green Classic (with screw scissors) beside a Hunter Green Classic (with rivet scissors) .
Forrest Green preceded Hunter Green in Vic timeline...

If it can help  ;)

Brilliant - Thanks Zanza - You're right - It's updated now -
Although I changed the lighter comparison green to sage green - As I refuse to admit that their 'pale green' is green!
I also changed the grammar a very little!!
