It's a Swiss vendor. https://www.swiss-knife.com/   Their prices for some items are quite good but the shipping wrecks it, so if you save up and order a bunch at once (I think it's like $125 or something) you get free shipping.  I guess it's possible duties may apply at that amount, I've only put in orders for a single knife before.  The prices in Switzerland appear to be quite low compared to the US.

I wonder, don't the states pay import duties like the UK do?

I'm not sure but I think below a certain threshold value no duty.  So far no duty on a single knife.  I'll let you know what happens when I spend$150 or something... :D

Im now trying a new Strategie : I only carry the Victorinox Hunter Pro Alox as Big Pocket Knive and the Mini Champ for the SAK Stuff: Tweezers, Scissors, Nail Cleening Tool, and it’s got a tiny Bottle Opener,

Tred this out today whit a Bottle of Beer for my Dad, worked , but it’s a bit special: you have to aim a special point on the Bottle Cap as the Opener is that tiny, but it would work..
Your SAK is only fully yours, when it bites you, or you opend a Trink of your joice whit it
SAKs i have: Huntsman Light (Red Transparent), Workchamp (Black), Wenger EvoGrip S557 (Red), Swisschamp XLT (Red Transparent)..

My Alox Minichamp is riding shotgun Tony.  I doubt I'll need it but it's there.

Wait a second! Is a backup 58mm allowed during the Spartan Challenge?

I love my Rambler and it’s been tough to leave it behind the past few days…

I'm never without mine.  The trick is not to use it.  If you must, then state why you had to.  The challenges are to have fun, but also to find out what strengths and weaknesses the specific tools have.

That’s good to know. I have sorely missed the 58mm scissors a couple of times.

Look what came in the mail today!

It’s used, but I’m still excited about it. Not sure about this pen scale though. I may see if I can find some standard 58mm scales to slim it down a little and go toothpick/tweezers.

:like:  Its a great 58mm.  I love mine and while a chubby little one its pen is very useful for me.  You can change out the scales with whatever you'd like in 58mm.

Enjoy and congrats.

I'm going to give it a real chance and see how it goes. I did swap out the tweezers for a toothpick though. I use a SAK toothpick every day for it's intended purpose and the 58mm one is the perfect size.

marlowe, if you don't know this tip already, it's easier to write with the pen if you open the combo tool.

And if you want toothpick and tweezers, do what I did.   :D

Then pen is not a replacement for a dedicated pen but I've found it so useful in those times when I failed to bring a pen or the pen at that moment decided not to work.  The use tip is a good one and one I use.  Its a chubby SAK for sure so if you decide to ditch the pen you are in shortage of options.  You can likely get a bag of classics for little money and have a variety of scales to choose from.. Give the remainder classics away to those you think will enjoy them.

I think I've sold more SAKs to people when I use that pen than any other feature.

I've been carrying the Minichamp around in the fifth pocket of my jeans, which is where my Rambler or Classic SD usually rides. I don't like actually keeping them on my keys because I find it easier to use them if they are free.

I haven't used it that much because I'm participating in the Spartan Challenge this month - I'm actively trying NOT to use the Minichamp! But it carries pretty well in that little pocket despite the extra chubbiness from the pen scale. Basically the test is whether it interferes with taking things in and out of the larger pocket of my jeans.  I definitely feel it more than the Rambler but it's not a big deal so far.

I went from a Manager on keys to a Midnight Manager ( gift from Folderbeholder ) and while chubbier I don't mind at all due to the light feature being really handy.

I carry my Minichamp loose in pocket at home.  What fun is when I head out for an errand on my off days I'll forget its there till needed.

Its sure a fun little SAK thats for sure.

+1

I awlso take the Midnite Manager everywhere. Most of the time, it's not needed. Some times, it's just enough for what is needed.
