I'm posting here because I thought of y'all first.

I was at the thrift store and missed a bag of knives first time around looking into their cabinet.  At second glance I was pretty surprised to see a bag with several traditional folders.  I asked the guy if I could see it and he said sure but you cannot open the bag.  It was a clear bag tightly wrapped so I could see the knives but not open or see great.

At $9 I figured I'd take a chance and while I could see the Buck was damaged straight away I hoped 2 or 3 would be serviceable.

Here's what I discovered when I got home.

1.  Buck Made in USA 307.  Broken.  Missing blade and other damage.  Hoping to take apart and make a single blade knife?
2. Camillus.  Broken.  Not serviceable so I'll use the shield at some point.
3. Powr Kraft USA 84-40 Barlow.  Rust scars but lots of walk and talk left in it.
4. MKlein&Sons Chicago Made in USA.  Stamped with a K so 1974.  Pretty cheaply made knife but loved the blade shape and its certainly ready to work.  The blade has some wobble side to side so a tap on the pivot is needed.
5. Imperial Prov RI USA.  Never had one of those knives.  Neat and still some life in it but not the best made IMO.
6. Schrade USA 1940T.  This was a nice find.  The liner lock need work but its a nice Old Timer single blade knife.
7. Craftsmen USA 9494.  Nice find as well.  Very cool pattern with good walk and talk.
8. Xcelite USA TL29.  Never head of this so it was a nice find.  These things were made like tanks for the most part.  This one is ready for more work.

Not bad for $9 in that I got 6 serviceable knives out of it and possibly a project with the Buck.  I really think I could get a single blade trad out of it?

The Powr Kraft Barlow, Craftsmen Whittler, Schrade Single Blade are the best after I cleaned them up.  The Klein, Xcelite are not bad at all and could serve one well.  The Imperial scout Red handle knife is ok.  Neat specimen but not something I'd carry.

I'll have to keep a better eye out when thrift store hunting.  I rarely see trads or knives at all when out.

 :salute: Thanks.

Just spent some time on the Spyderco Sharpmaker and they all came up nicely.  Some had micro chips but nothing a little diamond file couldn't take care of.  All shave magazine paper nicely tho not perfectly but thats ok as all will be work knives in and around my home.
