I was pocketing the top two in the picture trying to put a decent edge on these brand new Old Timers. They were part of a gift set with tin that Bass Pro was blowing out and came with a 152OT Sharpfinger. I am pretty underwhelmed by the lot of them, unfortunately. I grabbed them because I had seen some reviews that seemed to be of the opinion they were decently made.

Both the Minuteman and the Stockman have blades that are curved to the side. I expect the blades to be kicked so they avoid eachother on closing but these are arched and it shows when sharpening them on a flat stone. They both do not have great snap when the smaller blades close with the pen blade on the stockman needing help to finally seat and reveal the nail nick of the sheepsfoot. The bolsters on both have sanding scratches that were not buffed out. The grinds on the blades are all uneven and overground. One has the edge bevel running right into the kick. None of the blades were what I would call sharp.

The Sharpfinger isn’t too bad except the slabs for the handle are hollow and just feel wrong. It was at least sharp.

The bottom knife in the picture is well over a decade old and also Chinese made but is of much better quality. The blade on that one bears the Schrade name unlike the others.  My wife bought it for me as a Christmas present and it isn’t perfect but is leaps and bounds more refined than my impulse buy.

Oh well, they look nice displayed together and I got the whole set for under 40 Canadian Loonies. The Sharpfinger, I figure I’ll put new hardwood slabs on it and give it the weight in hand I feel it needs. Oh, and make it a new sheath. The nylon one it came with is, ahem, not great. The other two I’ll fiddle with and make better. Stuff like that keeps me out of trouble.

Today I am messing around in the garage changing fluids on my quad. Think I’ll drop these two in my pocket. The larger is a Robeson 633594 and the smaller is a Camco 561.

Nice one Gordon although it would be considered an Equal ended or Cigar Jack   :like: :tu:

Agreed,  Rough Ryder however labels it as a Cattleman.
I was drawn to it and bought because of the equal end, 2 blade design. If I used my head, instead of eyes only, and understood it’s overall size I may have passed.  But again, you can never go wrong with a PLUS SIZE MODEL😜
