It's complicated... and rather controversial.

Edit: From what I can gather. Jim Parker initiated the line of Case Classic collectable knives when he briefly had control of Case. But then, when he left he took it with him and farmed it out to Queen via Blue Grass... before giving it back to Case. The whole thing caused quite a *stooshie apparently.

Looks good.  The 47 pattern may be the sweetest spot in Case’s extensive stockman lineup.

 :iagree:
The 75 is pretty nice as well if fitted larger hands. Mine are XXL  and tight in that sized gloves.

:like: yours Tinner👍

Thanks! I like my 75 but I need to make a belt sheath for it. I don’t like bulk in my front pockets. The 47 is just enough smaller to be comfortable. I want to like the 18 but the main blade is too slim for my liking.

That is exactly my take on the 18,  that blade shape the same as the Muskrat blade and is also called a California Clip point.

Today stepped up a couple sizes, ready  for about anything🤨

Equal end model, in my mind can see it cutting  the end off a El Presidente cigar🤪. With an aged bourbon straight up on the table at a speakeasy🥸

The 75 is pretty nice as well
I still like a good 75.  However, I find they carry much bigger in pocket than a 47.  But the blades on the 75, while wider, are only very slightly longer than the blades on the 47.

I want to like the 18 but the main blade is too slim for my liking.
I initially found the narrow clip point blade unattractive as well.  However, as it was the only stockman pattern in several premium steel runs Case did over the last few years, I ended up carrying the 18 more than I otherwise would have.  And it has grown on me.

The shorter length and rounded bolsters make it an easy pocket carry.

Outside of hiking, camping, and food prep, the 18 is enough knife to generally handle my day to day needs.

The main blade on the 18 provides about the same sharp edge length as the main blade on a 91 mm Vic.  I have also come to appreciate how its narrow profile allows it to excel at tasks like removing carnival or hospital bracelets, zip ties, etc.

The sheepsfoot blade (my general utility blade on stockman knives, usually) on the 18 can be pinched open, which is a fingernail saver if using it a frequently.
