Hi, please forgive me if this is a dumb question that's been asked a thousand times before and answered two thousand times. I'm curious about more info on modding and inlays of older red celidor scales.
I get that designs (shield, cross, fish, etc) used to be metal and inlaid into the celidor, but is anybody doing that now, custom? Things like, does celidor melt (if so at what temp) or does it burn? I get that hot water softens it esp when you want to pull the scales off a knife, so I assume melt. Also, does anyone know what celidor is, as in so I can know what glue or epoxy is best to work it with? And, lastly, any idea if the new scales available are the same material as the ones from the 70s and 80s, say.
I'm thinking of personalizing a couple of knives, but leaning on using ones found in the wild instead of going with new material like titanium, gorgeous though it is.
