The Job Search Begins!
on: October 14, 2016, 02:53:01 PM
When I was in england my girlfriends parents found out the place I am a maintenance man is going from 2 people to just 1. This means as I was last in I'm first out

Now I have a part time job that brings in just over 500 euro, and I'm hoping closer to christmas to get more hours there. My biggest problem is I am not fluent in German so makes it a little bit difficult

Hope no one minds me sharing this here. On the plus side it means I get more time to spend on projects

Good luck with the job hunting :tu:

Oh and picking up German for a native English speaker is relatively easy, the trick is to make an effort and you'll find that the Germans will help. They also probably have a better grasp of English than most native English speakers

Sorry to hear that Josh. What's the job situation like in Germany? Better than here in the UK I hope, where you have to be 'passionate' about shelf stacking and zero hours contracts.

Good luck with the job and the projects. What projects do you have in mind?  :salute:

Good luck with that man- having been on the job trail for a while myself, I know it isn't fun.  I can only imagine how difficult it must be to try and find work in a place where you don't speak the language.

I have read that most Germans speak English, so hopefully that will give you some leeway at least.

Good luck with the job hunt!

Maybe there's an (international) company in your area where the fact that you speak native english is actually an asset for the job?

It's just pissed me off so much, annd the sad thing is whoever stole it will probably never use it! They will try to sell it for a quarter of its price! I'm looking on the local sites etc see if i can find them, my hand tools alone are worth about 150 euro.

I really don't have the cash to replace at the moment. At least I wont need them so much now I'm not working in that field for now

So maybe in a few weeks a friend of my girlfriend thinks she can get me a job in the gym she is a manager at. Doing maintenance only part time but better than nothing for the time being.
