I'm sure I overpaid for this knife, but I was tired of waiting for a bargain.  I have a decent Case BoneStag collection, and I have been wanting to add a Hobo knife to it.  Everytime I found one in BoneStag, I thought "that's too much... I can get one for a lower price if I'm patient."  Well, my patience wore off and I decided to go all in   Still, I love it 😍

Very nice, LC  :like:

Sod Buster isn't a pattern I normally seek, but the green/brown one really caught my eye.  I also liked that it has a S35VN blade.  It just arrived in the mail, and I am impressed.  The handle is much more chonky than I expected, and I mean that in a good way - it feels very durable.

Look at the thick handle  :o  My pocket is complaining, but my hand LOVES it  :tu:

I saw those S35VN Soddie Jrs. I always appreciate seeing Case branch out from their basic SS & CS.

Soddie Jrs aren’t really my speed though; too small, especially for single blade knives, and the handles don’t feel right in my hand.  So, hoping to see some other patterns offered; I would even be fine with the full-size Soddie.

This is be a new series by CASE, their Crossroads series with modern assembly, steel and covers.
The Soddies are the first release.
I understand a Sowbelly may be next inline.

The laminate wood models are the first release the Black/Red to and from Master dealers first, then the Green Laminate from SMKW. A Micarta and another laminate in December.

Time will tell or reveal new designs.

If you have a source, try handling one of these Crossroads Sod Busters.  The extra thick handle might suit you.

Unfortunately, I don’t have a good source close to me.  However, it seems to be more a length and shape issue than a thickness issue.

I know it’s a popular model, probably more popular than the full-size.  IMO though, it’s an example of a manufacturer taking a solid design, and scaling it down, and it just doesn’t work as well as the original.

IIRC, the Full size is only offered in the Synthetic covers, Black, Orange, Red and Yellow.  And possibly a Green John Deere model.

The SB Jrs popularity appears to be with Bone covers, different jigging finishes, dyes and the same synthetic covers.

Bone cover are thinner than others. Possible a Full Size is not rigid enough for the larger handle.
