Day 16

Went to IKEA and did some shopping and had some use of the package opener. It also helped free this badly mistreated CyberTool that I bought. As it seems to go with this kind of knives the blades are bent and badly notched but the reasonable prying tools (can opener and cap lifter) seem untouched. Go figure. It's interesting to note that while the mistreatment has gone so far as to make the scale chip all the scale tools are there (T&T + pen). Since I was mostly planning on getting a feel for the CyberTool driver these blemishes where no real problem and it may very well be that the driver ends up in a CyberYeoman.

I'm not going to do the signal challenge. I have too many knives that I've acquired over the last several months that I haven't had a chance to enjoy yet, including the Champion that I got for my birthday in September.   :climber:  Y'all can go on and have fun signaling each other and I'll just watch.

I'm not going to do the signal challenge.

Same here, only because I don't think I can stand carrying only the Signal and taking pictures every day. Even the Spirit is tough for me. I miss the variety of the traditional and discontinued challenges. Single tool challenges just aren't for me. That said, I'm sticking this one out, because if any tool deserves it, that's the Spirit.

Day 16

This is turning out to be one of the most common uses this month. Can't get these bloody things off without some kind of prying. (It's a safety electrical plug cover, if you're unfortunate enough to not have a 2 year old getting into everything in your home.) :)

May it be as the Pattern has chosen.

Hahah! My wife went crazy slapping similar devices all over our house ; some of them are stuck and probably will be there forever. (Ours were ugly orange things from Ikea...)
Ironically our kid showed no interest in electrical sockets whatsoever... unlike me, who (I am told) did my utmost to electrocute myself several times a day for many arduous months.

There are days when even the mighty Spirit finds itself out of its depth and unable to be of any use whatsoever.
This is one of those days.

That's an impressive toenail trimmer.

I'm not going to do the signal challenge.

It may just be me and Obi, as I don't think that many people own the Signal but I could be wrong about that.  Only the Elite will Compete!

I made the mistake of buying a Wingman - what a joke. After busting my fingernails on that I swore never again to go near a Leatherman.
So I certainly won't be part of the January challenge.

I did not dig the Wingman either, though many guys like it.  http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/890547-Leatherman-Wingman-not-recommended

We moved into a new house this summer. It's the first home I've ever lived in that is electric only (no natural gas and no wood burning fireplace). There's a winter storm coming in and I realized if the electricity went out we'd be screwed. I thought about a generator but they are huge and expensive. I don't want to spend that much money and store something that large for something that we may never even use, the power is very dependable here. So I bought a propane stove and propane heater. This would get us through a few days of power outage if need be, plus I can use these things camping and whatnot too. And I've been wanting a Coleman stove for the longest, nice excuse to get one.  :D

I just ordered a Mr. Heater for my 79y old mother, and will probably get one myself someday.  Looks like a good option for power outages, especially with a 20 lb propane tank.

I use a Coleman stove during power failures as well. Good choice.  Fortunately, I have little use for heaters.  I had the windows open last night when it was cool, but it got up to 83 degrees in the house this afternoon, so I had to close the windows and turn the AC back on.  I have electric heaters for February when it gets really cold, sometimes down to around 40.

Day 17

I opened a bucket of cat litter today.  I don't know why I bother.  The cats obviously don't care about my feelings.  I was so proud of myself for buying them an expensive, premium litter, and they just crapped all over it.

Day 17

Slightly late today, I had nothing to photograph so I took a picture with the (mostly) English shelf of my bookshelf.
