Show your Zoid love
on: November 11, 2016, 02:29:43 PM
Zoidberg is having a bit of a hard time right now.  I won't go into details, because I don't know any, and if I did it's his business, but this forum has always looked after it's own.  If Zoidberg isn't one of us and deserving of some appreciation then I don't know who is.

I hope you will all take a moment out of your day to let him know that you appreciate all he does around here.

Zoiderg man, we are always here for you.

Hang on my friend, life can sometimes hit you deep and hard (few years ago I had a very hard period in my life too), but don't lose your reason and courage.

If there's something we can do, don't hesitate to say (feel free to PM me). Take care, I wish you all the best.  :salute:

Zoidberg, you were the first one to answer me in this forum, the Kiwi who knightened me for the order of SAK, and the crustacean who never fails to amaze me with his pictures. If there is anything that I can do from old Europe, just tell me!

I'm going to go off on a tangent here, and Zoidie will either appreciate it, or he wont.....

I've been feeling a bit sorry for myself lately, due to "life issues", and have been out for a few beers tonight, for the first time in several months. I have been out for a few beers with my ex-boss, who is also an ex-supplier, but we are both still good friends. While we were out, I ended up having a few beers with a mate of his who has one leg and is expecting to lose the other very soon. His "issues" and life challenges were far worse than mine, but we spoke as equals.

We both have had losses and pain which most others couldn't connect with, but we understood each other, despite our own unique challenges being quite different. The commonality that we had was that we have both had life issues that other people might not understand, yet we have both decided to carry on regardless, and in a very strange way, our own debilitating issues were quite liberating. There was no point scoring or competition, just an exchange of how we each found ways to' thrive despite the obstacles that faced us. It was empowering for both of us.

That probably doesn't help Zoidie right now, but serves as an example that you never know where the best support will come from. Listening is a lost art for many people, but those who are prepared to try, can reap great rewards.

There is an old adage, that says "there's always someone worse off than you", and that adage is hurtful and patronising. A better variation, is that there is always someone else who has been through something smurfty who you can learn something from.

Zoidie old chap, if you ever want to talk via PM, I will be happy to listen. I cannot guarantee I will always understand nor empathise, but I will listen, and I will try to understand. I may also have some ideas, through hypnopsychotherapeutic training, and through personal crusades, which may prove helpful in finding a new way to appreciate the difficulties. What I will not do, is assume I know better than you. I just know "different" (maybe) to you. Sometimes different is enough to gain the space to get a new perspective to move forward from, and maybe I can learn something in return.

If you want to talk, my inbox is open. If you don't, then just know there are folks worldwide who are (always) on standby to do all they can to help, even if it's just to listen. :salute:

Whatever may be eating at you, you are not alone
