2017 Year of the Rooster Knife
on: November 15, 2016, 12:50:57 PM
Mine arrived today, Huntsman 'Limited' to 8888 pieces worldwide. I'm surprised they haven't chosen this number before given the relevance of 8 to the Chinese

Yes, I'm annoyed that every fancy SAK is a Huntsman. Never a Mountaineer, never an Explorer, never a Super Tinker...
Since I avoid saws on SAKs if I can, the Huntsman is one I don't like at all.

I got a Year of the Horse the other day off ebay... not because of the year but because of the horse, which is cool when someone in the family is horse mad.

I find myself using SAK saws more often as ersatz bread knives than as saws, LOL!

I must admit it is a really nice design.
I wish they didn't use red scales quite so often.
I will wait until they have a low-budget variant without the silly packaging (like they did with the horse)
I like the scales but not the extent that I would pay 88 euros for them...

I must stop starting sentences with "I"...

I use saws all the time, but never the tiny little ones on 91mm SAKS. The ones one 111mm SAKs are pretty good and it makes sense to have a saw there, but on 91mm SAKs I much prefer a metal file - which is great for cleaning up rough edges on wood. (I got a Locksmith, thinking a long file + long saw would be the best combination, but for me the 91mm file is adequate. I don't actually cut metal with these things. I have an angle-grinder for that!)

I have chainsaws, table saws, circular saws,  bendy saws, jig-saws... I'm only gonna use a SAK saw if I'm camping or the solitary survivor of a plane crash...

I understand the need in this kind of situation, but I usually saw plastics, and vic saw just isnt the best for that.

Neat looking knife!

Hope they show up here in the US so I don't have to order one out from Europe. Shipping on that big box is rather pricey.

That makes sense. I use my SAKs for more outdoors related tasks, so I usually prefer to have a saw on my 91mm, to each their own!
