Locked storage.
on: September 24, 2008, 01:10:11 AM
Now that the kids are getting a little older and more and more interested in Daddy's "toys" I am needing a more secure way of storing my tools.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks

Ben

Roll away top section. Very secure and can even be bolted down if needed.

I use mine at home also. I line the drawers with a wool blanket cut up and sprayed with silicone lube.

How about sending half of your tools away?

Eh? Eh? Then there wouldn't be a problem!

I volunteer. :D

Well it's larger than that tiny petty cash tin.  :D  My EDC would fill that!

I remember when I was a kid, I would go into all my fathers "hiding places" it wasn't secure!
a bolt down tool box with a lock (theirs or yours) sounds like a good idea.

Yes I played in my dads shop one day and fooled around with his torches. I did not have eyebrows for a month.

DaveK had a similar thing and I do like that idea.

I find it works really well for me - and it does have a lock, so might do you Ben. They come in lots of different drawer configurations too. All the stuff you can see in this pic fits in there comfortably with enough space for at least another 10 full size MTs.

I paid about £40 for that one, and stuck to a name that's well known, so if/when I want to add to it, I'll be able to find what I need.

I got it from these guys (collected from local branch). Have a surf around here http://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/product/details/ctc103-3-draw-step-up-chest/path/clarke-professional-tool-chest-range .

I used to come here a lot.

I sure didn't! Never had a chance to! My dad was the type to leave tools and nails and other hardware lying around... or in a bucket... or in several buckets, lying around... or any mixture! Just general tool neglect.

I remember everytime I needed a tool I was scared to put my hand in that bucket because of the number of screws and nails and rusty sharp objects at the bottom of it...

hey thats a middle cabinet though.

I use a top Cabinet, and the top flip part has all my stones, and oils and greese for the lights.
