This cheap Casio has quickly become a favorite.

(Image removed from quote.)

Which model is that?

Me, I haven't taken this one off my wrist for something like 2-3 months now I think:

I finally got the silver band on the Timex, so I wore it today.

The band is a little small for me, so I'll be looking for a new one.

I received a new watch in today's mail! :woohoo:

It's a Casio GD-100-1B that I got as a cheap way to see how I'd like a negative display. The brighter the ambient lighting, the easier it is to read, and it's difficult to photograph (especially since my phone is black). But so far, I like it quite a bit.

I am debating whether to put a new battery in my old Casio, or buy a new one.  Looking at Farmer X's new one didn't help any.  Battery level is already so low that the light hasn't been working for several years and it won't set the time.  Fortunately the watch still runs.  Don't ask me how.  I took the back off once.  It says the battery can't be replaced, but I read it takes a regular CR2025.  Maybe I will wait until it just stops.  I do miss having a lighted dial.  Best wishes.  G

Might have to extract the old one and see how easy it is going to be.  I have changed lots of watch batteries.  Seems like this one was harder to access.  Need to double check the size first as well.  Best wishes.  G

I agree with Z: put a new battery in the present watch! A new watch is always fun, but a new CR2025 (I'm pretty sure Gary correctly identified the needed battery) is much less expensive.

I took the back off (4 screws) and found out the battery is a CR2025.  20mm diameter with 2.5mm thickness.  See you do learn some things on here.  Probably go to Wally World tomorrow and pick up a battery.  Battery has a tape over it and is held down by a stirrup.  I figured if I futzed it up completely, not much is lost anyway.  I have had the thing forever.  I think they stopped making the watch in 2009, and it has the original (10 year) battery.  A new battery has been long overdue.  Best wishes.  G

The little stirrup things that hold down the battery can be fiddly...take your time and be careful. What module does your Casio use? (It's the number engraved on the case back that has a box around it.)

I'll be putting a new battery in my DW-5600E sooner or later. From what I've seen, it looks like a fairly easy job.

2747 is the only number in a box.  I used to be good with little tinky fiddly things.  Not so much anymore.  Best wishes.  G

My Googling earlier today led me to believe that it was a 2747. I was right. You can Google "Casio Module 2747" and find a PDF copy of the manual direct from Casio.

I found a decent video that shows replacement of a module 2747 battery. I'll post it or send via PM if desired.

I watched a video earlier.  The watch is an old HDC600.  I think.  I believe I still have the manual.  I haven't set anything on the watch in years.  That will be fun.  Seems like it did world time and a bunch of other hoo hah.  I liked it because it had hands and a light.  Plus the day and date, of course.  And it wasn't very heavy.
I'm only a mile or so away from a Super Wally World, so that is likely where I will do a battery search.  I don't know where I read the part about the battery being non-replaceable.  Might have been in the manual.  It wasn't on the watch like I thought.  Best wishes.  G

Casio with the old battery alongside.  The replacement went much smoother once I figured out that I was trying to open the stirrup retention thingie from the wrong side.  For the record, the wide apart prongs are the hinge.  The closer together prongs are the latch.  I found my original manual and managed to reset the time and date.  Best wishes.  G

Interesting band on that one!

I took a couple of photos of the GD-100-1B in different lighting conditions. The exposure is not corrected; you see what the camera saw. First is outside, under a moderately overcast sky.

The second is under the lighting at the John D. Dingell VA Medical Center; I was waiting for a CT scan.

Thanks, Gary! :hatsoff: The medical stuff wasn't too bad. Lots of new lab work, and the CT scan was mostly to rule out bad stuff (which my doctor seems to have done between the lab work and the CT scan).

These two were on offer at a local pawn shop. I did wear them, even if only briefly.

I'm more of a dark dial kinda guy, but the one with the leather band is tempting (provided that I can get a little more bucks-up and they don't sell it by then).

Here are two more that I wore but briefly. These were at the Shinola store. First, the Ceramic Monster.

And the GMT Monster. I really like this one.

These two are way out of my budget right now, but I'd sure like to own at least one fancier automatic watch someday.
