Skeletool Sunday!
on: November 20, 2016, 04:42:57 AM
I know it is a bit early for Sunday in the US but it isn't far from Monday in other parts of the world :D

I only ever really need a light carry for Sundays and the Skeletool makes it in my pocket with it's fine clip and great knife blade a lot of the times in the last several years since I have had it :tu: The screwdriver is a really added nice bonus as well ;)

So I am gonna start this one and post a pic from today but I will also try and get one tomorrow :salute:

First thoughts so far are good! First of all, I didn't know that the bits actually lock into place so thats a big plus for me. It honestly feels lighter and sits in the pocket better than i would expect even for 5 oz. I have also noticed a nice groove right below the blade that allows a more comfortable grip. I also like the "click" that the pliers have when they are opened or are put into screw driving position. It almost feels as if there is some kind of detent to keep it in the driving position. Already had a chance to use the screwdriver and it is much mire comfortable than I imagined. All this in about 45 minutes of handling it. First impressions are honestly much better than expected. The little parts of the tool seem to be well thought out. The only downside is the combo edge, but that can (and eventually probably will) be easily switched out for a straight edge. Loving it so far! I'm sure you'll hear more about it from me once i get to carry it

It does help if you get in the mindset that you have a good OHO folder that just also happens to have pliers and a bit driver vs. pliers that have a bit driver and a OHO knife   :like: It changes the way I look at the Skeley completely when I look at it from that angle :tu:

Right, instead of being a MT, think of it as a knife with extra features.

Even with that sort of thinking, the Skele and I just did not get along. A lot of it has to do with the fact that I'm a lefty, I'm sure. Still, even in "knife with benefits" thinking, I HATE the Skeletool. I should sue Leatherman for discrimination against 10% of the population (but 50% of my family, including stepbrothers, sisters in laws (BOTH!) and my mom  )...... ;)
There's no such thing as "Too pretty to carry".  There's only "Too pretty NOT to carry"...... >:D

You can sue all the firearm companies as well while you at it.  :pok:

I do wish that they would make an option for lefties as well :tu: I know several people who are left handed and just because the majority of the populace is right handed doesn't mean that the once that aren't should have at least a few options that would make day to day life easier  :tu: :like: :like:

Good point JD  as a right handed person I never think about stuff like that either  :D

Shucks, I've been a lefty all my life.  I adapted, has made me better at many tasks, which has been really handy in current line of work because equipment place is not always thought out with limited access for repair.

All leatherman mts with one handed access is right hand oriented.  Probably why the Rebar and ST300 are favored by me.

The. Skeletool is not a bad tool at the current sale price, I would never paid to sixty plus $.
But, I must say that since tool set minus screw driver on my Freestyle is almost identical, it is my preferred carry along with the trusty Micra.

Kampfer you did good sharing the SKT love!
