Great Sunday pics!! :like:

I'm liking the Leatherman Skeletool Smooth Stammer Hammer HEX much more than the Leatherman Skeletool Wedgey-Bar.
Both these 3D printed items are top notch in quality and design. I simply prefer the pocket size length of my Skely now. Thanks Eric!

 Happy Sunday folks!

Carbon fiber construction now retired on the CX I guess they should call it the AX...

Yes, yes it does 8) of course I may cringe a bit now when I carry it  :D

And my least favourite part of mine.  ;)

Perhaps why they made the change, many may feel that way

So what is used instead?

Man! Gotta love those collectable carbon fiber CX's!! :like: :like:

I still can't figure why they'd eliminate that element from of this Skely! ???

I'm going to take the carbon fibre part out of mine one day and throw it away  :pok:
and replace it with something lamer.  ;)

 Happy Skeletool Sunday!  :drink:

My favorite Skele found his much older brother the other day! It is neat finding all the differences/improvements
that happened along the way to the current version.
They may have some parts that they can trade with each other too.

Great pic,  5S :like: Does that older Skeletool have a plain edge or combo edge blade

Thank you Poncho65! :hatsoff:

The older Skele has an absolutely beautiful plain edge blade and features the 90° c'sink machined washers which I have
blueprinted for later projects. Did you notice the different contours of the lower scale, size of the bit holder and
subtle differences in pliers?

I'm hoping the pliers on the older version are not the ones that had breakage issues... :-\

If it has a plain blade then it is was amse in the first year of production and a bit more rare because they only made them like that for a year :like:

I only have the PE in the regular Skely and my Cx has the PE Blade as well (the PE On the Cx is much more common because only the first year of its manufacturing had a combo blade)

I do think from what I have seen and heard that the older Skeletools are much more nicely made than what they are making now  :tu:

So good to learn about the Skeletool’s rich history!. From a machinist perspective it appears Leatherman had spent a bit more time and energy
at the beginning of the tool’s life-cycle as my newer version has more than a few cost cutting features that made the final product less expensive
to manufacture. All hard goods manufacturing processes are geared to do just that, to remain competitive in their respected markets.

I love um both equally as well, but I really like the overall looks and functionality of the PE blade and plan to duplicate the machined conical
stainless washers for my newer Skeletool to kinda give it a retro vibe. ;)

Super nice photos gadgetman7 & SteveC...  :hatsoff:

For me the Skeletool CX is still without question “The king of Skele’s!”
with it’s Carbon Fiber Insert. It’s physical appearance is so iconic and
timeless. Truly a thing of beauty and now somewhat collectible.
