The Great Multitool.org Trivia Thread
on: November 20, 2016, 11:28:23 PM
Let's play MTO Trivia!

The rules are simple- I will ask a question of general multitool knowledge and the first person to answer it correctly gets to ask their question.  Whoever answers that question correctly gets to ask the next question and so on.  Should there be a dispute, it will be up to a moderator (or if it involves one or more mods, it will be up to me) to make the decision.

Given this crowd, we should end up with an excellent reference thread for new users!  :D

So, to start, here is the first question, and it should be an easy one:

What was the first multitool that Tim Leatherman developed called?

The regular Skeletool now has a combo edge blade but in what year(s) did it have a plain edge blade?  Also these same years the Skeletool CX had a combo blade and then changed to a plain edge blade.

I think it would be more interesting to not allow outside resources, so that it's more about who knows what rather than who has faster internet.

Correct  I would have also went with just 2008 because technically that is the year they released it but we did see a few early ones in 07 and I am sure there were several that were released in 2009 with the PE blade :salute:

OK David it is your turn now buddy

Question:

Depends how you count them :P i am not counting West marine/paladin/other "branded" SOG produced tools.

I count 8 (from memory ;) )

Toolclip
PowerPlier
CrossCut
CrossCut 2.0
CrossGrip
OG Switchplier
OG PowerLock
PowerDuo

The MicroToolclip was recently reintroduced, although one could argue that the first 2 generations were different enough to count.

While we wait for SlaughterMed to come up with a new question, here's another one:

Who was the second company to jump into the multitool market after Leatherman?
