The small knife on the 91mm! Too small and fiddly; I never use it; give me anything in place of it! (Dangerous ground... I know there are fans!)

The small blade is one of my favorite things and most used on the 91's. Wish the 93's had the small blade instead of the awl, I have so many more uses for it. I tend to use the 93's awl more as a small blade, but it's not ideal. Also the combo tool is such a useless thing that it would make total sense to have a small blade there, which is why I don't make engineering decisions for Vic I'm sure...  ;)

Just thought of another tool that they could deep six, the nail file. I have absolutely no use for it, sorry Cadet and Wenger fans...  :P ;)

Definitely personal preference territory.

I prefer the small blade on the Cadet II to the nail file on the Cadet

Agree, would enjoy seeing a Pioneer X II, a Farmer II, an alox Soldier II, etc., etc...

Why +B never offered a full sized MicroFarmer, I guess we'll never know, they had the technology.  :P

I like the inline awl on the 93mm though... BTW I have seen mods which have replaced the awl with the Electrician's sheepsfoot blade, so that's possible

BTW I'm currently having a Cadet X (i.e. with scissors) made up, but also getting the nail file replaced with the small blade like the Cadet II. One thing I don't like about the nail file on the Cadet is the way it faces the main blade, as it can scratch it up if you're not careful

The small blade from a Settler is a drop in, no problem there, and as much as I like the 93mm awl, I would trade it for a small blade. Hope to see pics of your Cadet II X when it's done OG, sounds like a good one!  :tu:

Yeah I'm gonna go with the fine backside screwdriver. It's too big for some of my small screws, yet too small for others. Seems to be made for a screw size I never see. The older version of the tool seems to be similar to the can opener SD tip.

As for the scaler, if the ruler was elsewhere (and had finer subdivisions printed on it) I would prefer that. I'm not fully against the scaler but only like them on big SAKs.

I don't like the small blade on big SAKs though since it's hard to wield in true pen-knife fashion, but I like them on 2 or 3 layer SAKs.

I too would like to see inline awls on 91mm SAKs.

A couple of the backside tools annoy me - the chisel and the small screwdriver which seem like afterthoughts rather than genuinely useful tools. Apart from tthose two I can see the use of most of the rest  (though I have never owned a SAK with a combo tool or a backside philips).

I'll post some when I get it, it's red alox and is being treated to brass liners too.

I find the combo tool works just fine as a bottle opener and can opener (though for the latter would only use it if I had nothing else to hand), but I don't trust it for anything other than very light use as a screwdriver

I would drop the fish scaler, if an alternate location could be found for the ruler scale.  Maybe on the woodsaw, but there the markings might cause increased drag when using the saw, or get worn off over time.
A full-length low profile, semi-3d Phillips (like the Leatherman driver bits) would be a useful replacement and could provide a home for the ruler.

The LM can opener needs to go before anything made in Switzerland, it's that bad.  :D
