Chances are, it's corrosion.  Alcohol and a Q-Tip takes it off.  If that don't work, email warranty.

First make sure that the battery is the right side up. This issue has scared the bejesus out of me more than once

But apart from that, corrosion and battery springs in need of more tension are the only ails that are easily fixed without access to an electronics workshop.

2 years warranty on electronics iirc. They might be willing to give it a service lookover and bill you for time and materials used.

Even if the electronics are not covered, contact your local dealership. Victorinox may end up fixing your problem at no/very limited cost.

From my experience, their customer service is the best.

Problem solved, some "dummy" had put the new battery in upside down. Downloaded the manual as well so got it all set up correctly. Thanks for your suggestions.

I just recently purchased an old Voyager on clearance and had the exact same problem. The issue is the battery slot seems to "cup" the battery with it faced upside-down when it needs to be placed right side up. So it feels like it's in right but it's not.

Plus the manual a bit hard to read and doesn't show where the plus or minus mark goes on the battery installation image. Well worth the trouble though, I thought the clock would be hard to use with only one button but actually it's quite user friendly ...and those grey scales are lovely!
