Day 8/30

Did a battery swap on a toy.  The screw was a bit stripped out so it took a little fiddling with. And daughter decided to decorate my knife with her toys.

It is great to raise them to respect a knife as a tool and not fear it as a weapon :tu:

Great pics and fine use   :like:

Love the toy decoration...very heart-warming!

I am waiting for Amazon to deliver my first Alox Victorinox, a Pioneer X.  Naturally, I was curious about the thread title and now I am still smiling about the toy decorations.

Thanks for sharing!

My suspension clip finally showed up. Trying to decide if I want both split rings on there or just one.

I would go with only one. Not only does it look "cleaner" but it should also help orient the knife flat in your pocket.

Day 10/30

Under advisement I removed the bigger split ring. It does look cleaner. Feels about the same in the pocket. So I'm good with that.
Gave the knife a good wash. Had been on orange duty pretty heavily. So it needed a citrus cleanse.
In the pocket with the Skeletool and Shard ready for some adventure.

The Pioneer X arrived today.  What an amazing SAK! No wonder people start collecting alox SAKs!  I used to carry a Tinker but kept looking for a scissors so frequently that I moved to the Super Tinker.  The Pioneer X gives me a slim form factor with scissors. I am quite used to the quality of SAKs but the PX seems to display a little extra snap.  I'm very impressed!

Today's lesson. In a pinch, the blade of the PX makes a pretty good mirror.
It was hard to take a pic of so I grabbed something with contrast as a demo. With two small kids there's no shortage of toys around.

Day 13/30

Paired up with the Shard and Paraframe mini again today.
Nothing to exciting to write about. Out with the wife and kiddos. PX did its normal diner duty. Also used the scissors to open up some plastic packaging. They cut thru like hot butter.

Day 15/30

Half way thru!
Want to reflect on one of the main reasons I bought the PX. The scissors on this thing are sharp. They've cut thru everything I've thrown there way.
I was impressed with how smooth they sliced through paracord. My Style CS scissors had some trouble with that. It would cut but took several snips to get the small strands at the end. However the PX iced right thru with easy.
The scissors are one of the daily used items I have.
On a side not, I've been carrying the Shard to compliment PX. The Shard's Phillips work very well and helps make up for the lack of a. 3D Phillips on the PX. This is a non issue when I carry the Skeletool and PX. But I've ventured out a few times without that combo so a substitute was required.

Used the PX to tighten the handle on a pan for the wife. I didn't think the small driver would fit and almost reached for a Klein driver. But I opted to give the PX a try and it worked well.

The scissors on the PX moved me from an admirer of Alox knives to a purchaser of the PX!  I'm not surprised that the LM Style CS had trouble and your PX did not.  I own several LM MTs of different sizes and have taken the testimony of happy YouTube reviewers at face value as they compliment the excellent scissors on the various LM products. I usually use my SAK's scissors to open the side of the plastic mailing envelopes lined with bubble wrap.  One rainy day after retrieving my mail and packages and finding one envelop covered with reinforcing tape, I reached for my LM Juice CS4's scissors and with some effort, managed a 1/4 inch cut.  Out came my SAK's scissors and easily opened the envelop. After various comparisons, I am convinced that Victorinox makes some of the best scissors and they do compare favorably to pliers-based MTs.

Don't want to disparage LM, watched a YouTube video where The Late Boyscout compared Leatherman scissors in a face-off where some of them were cutting a leather belt before the end of the video including the small scissors on the Wave/Charge MTs.  The Surge's scissors were very large and the most impressive of the bunch.

Back to the PX...the first thing I did after removing it from the box was check out the scissors and they are first rate!
