A notice to the companys that come here.
on: October 01, 2008, 12:41:00 AM
OK I have decided that because i have gotten so much info and help out of this forum(even though I have never won anything :P) that more companies need to come in here and sponser the site.

So I have made the final decision.
1. I will no longer buy any new tool off ebay.
2. I will only buy used tools from stores. Like pawn shops, and Flea markets, and trades.
3. I will first give the Cat guy a shot. He really treats us here great.
4. Unless the companies come on the site and sponser I will not shop at them!
5. all future tool purchases new will only be here.

So does this seem a little extream Maybe but we have some great stores that sponser the site. And its my money!! :ahhh

I'm guessing this is semi-directed at me as well.  Glad to hear the thinking.  This is a pretty cool site and we like to support it so it's nice to get some support in return.

Actually it is not directed to you, however you do support this site, so expect an order this weekend. This is directed at the people whom snoop here. I can understand Lman and gerber, sog, and Vic. not wanting to post, due to drama that would come.(especially me with Gerber) But to the online stores that i know do come here. kuddos to you and the others, and I appreciate you guys for what you do.

Ah..  now I'm reading you.  I would guess most all at least lurk here but I agree many would be afraid to post up just because it might open a flood gate to something they wouldn't be ready for.  Both good and bad.

Ya know if it was a car, I would feel very differently. However the tools in question really the biggest swing is around 5-15 bucks. So I will pass up Starbucks for Dunkin Donuts a couple times. I just feel that Tim and others do more here, and the websites of other companies get thrown out a bunch to save 10 bucks, on a Tool.(I actually most likely have done it)

So I just felt that I had to step back and look at the whole thing again.

I like it! When I first started here, I posted links to specials that I found (non-banner members) but after seeing what the banner
members do for us (and others), and the great deals they have given us, I feel like you, I want to give them my loyalty and
deserved respect (I was just thinking about this). They are a great bunch of folks, and I'm very happy to deal with them :salute:
judge others by how they treat those they are allowed to mistreat

Good to hear that so many of you are willing to help out the banner advertisers as they help us out.  Just in case anyone isn't familiar with all of our advertisers, here's a list:

Rob
www.eLeatherman.com

Dennis
www.Gerber-Tools.com
www.Hand-Tools.com

Marc
www.EDCDepot.com

Tim
www.felinevet.sosakonline.com

Tom
www.rotokid.sosakonline.com

Any of these guys are happy to answer questions, and if you don't see what you want in their stores, send them emails asking about it.  Chances are, they either have or can get just about anything you may want.

I've only experience so far of dealing with Tom, and his customer service was above and beyond the call of duty. I was frankly amazed at how good he was in sending my modding suppliies.

If the others are half as good - then they get my support too!

I used to come here a lot.

I've bought from Dennis, Marc, and Tim, and the experience was great.
It is definitely a great idea to shop with banner advertisers to support the site, even it it ends up being a little more expensive (and, more often than not, it is actually the best deal around!).
The only thing that may not be in line with Def's vision is to heve the manuafacturers spnsor this site, due to the desire for the "editorial independence" onthe part of our fearless leader.

The manufacturers are great to deal with too, but they prefer a lower profile, so as not to "taint" the discussions any.  Well, the good ones anyway.  There are a couple that don't know who we are, but that's only because they can't figure out how to access the internet with the crayon shoved in their noses.  I'm sure they know who they are... at least enough to sign their names with the afore mentioned crayons...

:D

But for the most part, they are great to deal with!

I'm sure our fearless leader has a price, though it's probably not in money.

I wonder who sent the Shard eh?

The Shard was sent to me by the Assistant Editor of Knives Illustrated magazine.

Remember the Dump Truck full of money theory I have?  I'm not proud, but it would have to be a big one... maybe one of those big quarry or mining dumps...
