Quite a collection!

I noticed that you have quite an attraction to Swisschamps.  :)

I haven't inventoried my collection but I would expect some raised eyebrows at the number of Explorers I have added.

I did notice a glaring hole in your collection...where is the Pioneer X?

So, as one of the characters of a well-known British sit-com would say, "Rock on!"

That's a fairly decent start, but you need to raise it by an order of magnitude before you can begin to approach SAK nirvana.

I was wondering about the 8 Swisschamps though... Are they different, or why so many?

I love the SwissChamp,  but there are some differences.

1.  1986-7 first year with the thin pliers
2.  1987 - 1990
3.  1992 - 1998 Supertimer
4.  1992 - 1998
5.  100 year SwissChamp   #28230
6.  1998 - 2004 with Photo Scales
7.  2012 - 2015
8.  SOS Kit

it is silly,  but I got some of them at amazing prices.

3 of them cost me less than $30 each.  (can't pass on that)
the super timer I bought for $50  a great deal IMO
the SOS kit I got for $50, great price IMO.

just could not help myself.

Nice collection detron, but don't feel silly about all the Swisschamps. The Swisschamp is my favorite model and I have edc'd one for over 30 years.

I have about 70 SAKS, but as far as Swisschamps I have:

2 100 year Swisschamps
3 Silvertech Swisschamps
5 Ruby Red Swisschamps
3 Sapphire Blue Swisschamps
2 Red Swisschamps
2 Black Swisschamps

I don't think it's as simple having 25,000 SAKs, there are cerain rules, like having 2 of everything  (one to keep in box and one to display or use).

But the greatest SAK collector of all time is the TSA.

Oh yes there are some...
I am (still) junior collector

But the number of SAKs is not everything. For example,
it's harder to find 20 diffrent 95mm knifes than 10000 Classics.

Yes, the TSA takes them all. Does anyone know what they do with it?

Most are probably sold at government auctions. A lot of used knife dealers get their stock that way. Some are put on display at airports as reminders not to try and bring them through security. Some are destroyed and some end up in TSA employee pockets.

I do not work for the TSA, I work for the Navy.  if I did work for the TSA, I would not steal peoples SAKs,  though it would suck to watch them being taken, and not returned

Oh, there are certainly a few special between the Classics and Spartans.
I would pick them up ... not that they end up in the garbage
But seriously: Even though I have thousands of SAKs, and do not collect cellicor classics,
a simple Classic is still a SAK and a beautiful piece of precision and usefulness.
This SAK wastage disturbs me!

I don't think there's so much SAK wastage, as there are dealers being stuck with a lot of common used knifes they can't sell. There seem to be plenty of large lots of SAKs being offered on ebay.
