Well...
on: October 06, 2008, 06:54:23 PM
Okay guys, I am spending less and less time on here as a result of my increasingly busy schedule, so I figured now is as good a time as ever to clear some stuff up.

First things first, I am not from Switzerland. I've never left the U.S., in fact. On my YouTube account, through which you guys found me, I said that I was Swiss to protect my identity. I never figured that anyone would really watch my videos.

Next off: I am not twenty one, or whatever age you thought I was. Last Wednesday, October first, was my birthday. I turned fourteen.

Pretty much everything else you know about me is true: I still love multi-tools, and I still play the trumpet, I still used to work in a warehouse, etc. Besides my age and location, I tried to never lie. I only sometimes stretched the truth so much so that it all but broke.

I apologize for lying. I wanted to tell you guys myself before it got blown out of proportion.

Joey

Well.... that's cool Joey, you certainly didn't do me any harm, but why?

The reason I'm replying with a question is that you are not the only guy recently to pretend to be older than they are (most of us pretend to be younger :D), and I can't figure out why.

I can't believe that anyone on here would take anyone less seriously for being younger - in fact as an old git, it's nice to hear what young whipper-snappers have to say!

I used to come here a lot.

One of the first and biggest steps to becoming a man is being able to admit that you've erred. Get on the straight and narrow path early in life ,and the best way to go through life is to be upright and honest.

Hey, all is forgiven. I've barely seen you post anyway, not much to forgive.

When I was 14 I would lie and say I was 19 (eighteen was overused :D), and now that I'm older I'm having a hard time convincing people of my age...

Not telling what that may be, by the way. You'll have to guess. :D

And I never lied to get into places or abuse people's trust. I had simply realized that people will in fact, treat you your age, regardless of how mature you may think yourself. Of course, there are exceptions, but the majority is a problem.
Got those frog legs.

Sorry Joey, in my posting haste - I didn't really convey that I agree with the others and respect you for "coming clean".

I'm still curious about the why - but well done for being honest  :salute:

I used to come here a lot.

Well done Joey , it must have taken guts to come clean but you did the right thing . Its a shame when younger members feel they need to lie about their age to be accepted  :( This is not so and younger members are most welcome , hell they are the future of the multitool world .

Thanks guys, I was really worried.

I don't know what I would have done had I stumbled upon this site myself, but since I said on Youtube that I was in my twenties, I figured I should go along with it, since someone invited me to the site after seeing my videos.

As Dunc said it's great to see a younger guy interested in this sort of stuff too many don't have a clue I am trying to instill self reliance in my boy but it's hard when he sees the can't someone else do it culture all around him

Sorry jock...I guess you missed the part where I said

"Well done lad, honesty pays in the end "

its all in the details  :twak: plus it was not just his age he lied about but his location...I am not going to be told "not to " do something by anyone Jock...you obviously missed the  ;) and the humorous tone it was meant in.  My respect to him for coming clean...but don't tread on me and I apologise to everyone reading this and for hijacking the thread but I was not the one who went public with this...

Rant over

Thumbs up joey (please don't grow old and bitter like me  ;))

Forums are all about lying, they wouldn't be half so fun if you had to tell these sops the boring truth about your life.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to do a thousand push ups, just like I do every morning before my slavegirls bathe & dress me.

I think he spelled something wrong. I've never heard of this "sober" thing... maybe he meant... slobber? Stober? Smogger?

I dunno... I need a drink.
