Swiss Army.... truck?
on: April 03, 2017, 11:21:39 PM
One of the things I miss about being in Halifax is my old job.  Working in shipping allowed me to see all kinds of neat things, from tanks to flying boats to what happens when containers full of uranium hexaflouride fall from two stories high.

One of my friends still down on the docks shot these photos and added them to the MTO Facebook page, because for some reason he thought we'd be interested in them.  :D

Naturally I immediately contacted Victorinox and asked them if they had any info about it- was this some kind of publicity thing, and if so, what was happening.  He responded almost immediately that he knew nothing about it either, but that he would ask around.  So, in the end, all we know about it is the excellent story written on the rear door panel.  Even so, what a beautiful old rig, and I am glad to see that someone is going the distance to look after it.

Think I know what's going on here. I bid on and won a 1943 Victorinox SAT on eBay just figured it was a misprint. Wow that rig will look sweet in my driveway. And don't worry boys maybe we can do a pass around!

I live old trucks and I love SAKs. If I had something like that I'd spend the rest of my days touring all over in it.   :D

Unfortunately not.  And the reasons why are long and boring, so feel free to skip the next bit.

To be honest, my old job was all about liability, and the reduction thereof.  Handling a product increases the potential for damage, and the photos taken are generally considered specific to the client that hired us, and therefore their property.  Taking picture of someone else's stuff for purely personal reasons is very much a no-no, and theoretically my friend could get in a lot of trouble if the owner of this vehicle decided that publicising it was somehow offensive- for example, if it was a vehicle for a promotion and we released photos before the official unveiling.

Luckily that doesn't seem to be the case, but the additional handling of opening the back would make things even worse.  There is always the possibility of personal effects being transported in a vehicle like that, and who wants strangers rummaging around in their stuff?

Of course we wouldn't want someone handling our cargo beyond necessary......But obviously interior pics are necessary. A guy on the internet said so.

Yes, the Internets demand pics.

Beautiful truck. Thanks for showing us at great personal danger to your friend  :D

I'll be sure to let him know that his liability concerns have been overruled by the internet!  :D
