I've had three warranty experiences here in Australia.
1. Original PST- Plier jaws replaced. (wire cutters used on something too hard)
2. Another PST- Not mine sent in on behalf of someone else. (multiple tools replaced).
On both occasions through and by a retailer no questions asked no shipping paid.
3. Most recently B/O Wave small issue, the eyeglass screw driver broke off a corner.
This time I went to the same retailer and was given a Leatherman form to fill out and send in myself. As can be seen it required certain information, ie. proof of purchase etc. which I didn't have.
So I rang the Distributor spoke to a Lady in Warranties and explained I had the form but not being the original owner could not give the required details. She told me it didn't matter as they have a 25yr warranty and said she would post a new eyeglass screwdriver to me which was done and also included a new Philips/Flathead bit. There was no questions asked and no need to see the tool. Whether or not if a larger claim was required it would have been different, possibly but those are my experiences so far.
