Last of the Christmas gifts
on: October 20, 2008, 12:28:18 AM
As some of you may remember from an earlier topic I (or rather my wife) had decided to make some custom SAKs for all the male relatives in my family.  So here are the last three for your pleasure.

First is a Yeoman

You might be able to see I have gone for the newer Swissbianco idea of having the Phillips/magnifier layer in the middle.  This just seems to make sense to me.

Next is an original design (perhaps) that I call the Zero % or the Nil-By-Mouth.  This is going to my father-in-law who is, due to medical conditions, not allowed to drink. As you can see it has now way of getting into anything alcoholic whatsoever.  Votes as to the name are welcome.

The last I am thinking of as the Homebuilder.  It is going to my brother-in-law who is renovating a house in Northern Ireland.  It started life as a Ranger but I felt the scissors just didn't fit in with the DIY aspect of the design and at 5 layers thick it felt a bit to big for EDC and so the scissors had to go.

Sorry for the poor pics but the sun has gone down and I wanted to get some shots.  I hope you enjoy.
Be excellent to each other and always know where your towel is.

Nice mods Gareth

I vote for Zero%  though I'd be worried that hook could assist in can opening ;)

Yes you can, grip beer bottle by the neck and pry the cap off with the hook, using thumb as pivot.  :pok:

Thank you all.  The Sahara and the Tee-toteller are both good names.  I have to say the Sahara sounds cooler though.  :salute:

There is also the potential for delicious irony when someone is stuck in the desert, and can't get into their (canned?) water due to having the only multi in the world without a can opener!

and it's called the Sahara!

Fabulous!

It's a knee-slapper I tell you.

Here is a shot of the final line-up.

top row: Yeoman (Brother-in-law), Zero % (Father-in-law)
Middle: Homebuilder (the other Brother-in-law)
Bottom row: Passenger (Brother), Stay Glow Mechanic (Father)

From the bit left over from doing these knives I was able to make myself a nice Camper.  I have to admit I really don't want to give away the Yeoman or the Homebuilder.

You know I hadn't thought of the time saved shopping!  I still need to get my wife something, and no, she doesn't want a SAK. ::)

In her defence she does carry a 91mm two blade and corkscrew piece I made.  She also really likes the Alumnus I made, but love only goes so far. ;)

Personally I can't stand nail clippers of any sort.  I just hate the feeling of them.  Is it bad to say I have no idea if she uses them? :-[

If she already has a SAK then we'll forgive her ;)  Looks like you'll be off to the jewellers with the rest of us then :D
