Possible issue with scissors on Leatherman Charge TTi

Hello folks,

This is my first post in these forums, so I hope that I'm posting in the right category.

I have recently purchased a new Charge TTi. The date stamp on the tool is 02 16.

I have noticed on one of the scissor blades a possible issue. It seems that part of the blade has worn away. Up until the point of noticing the issue, I had not used the scissors since receiving the tool. I have attached a photo below that illustrates the issue.

Before I send the tool back to the supplier or directly to Leatherman, I am trying to establish whether this is in fact an issue, or whether this is the intended design of the scissors.

Please note that I also own another Charge TTi (date stamp 04 13) and the scissors on this tool do not show the same issue. However, the scissors on this older Charge TTi are slightly different in their shape - so this may not be a good comparison with the scissors on my new Charge TTi.

Can you help?

Looks like something went wrong with grinding/sharpening that one...

Doesn't look normal to me.

I agree. Send it to LM and they will fix you up. Also, welcome to the boards.

What they said.

Let me ask tho,  how do they work?  Reason why I ask is you have 25 year warranty on the tool and with it being 06' you've got a long way to go.  If they work go ahead use them so you're not out the tool.  If thats not a bother then by all means send them in.

Thanks to everyone for their responses. I am glad that I have established this as a problem and not an intended part of the design.

Regarding the operation of the scissors, this problem does not affect their performance - the scissors cut just as well as my other Charge TTI.

Nevertheless, I have sent the tool back to Leatherman. I'd rather have the tool in A1 condition from the start of its use.

God bless you all.

Naturaly!
The TTI comes at a premium price so it should be perfectly finished.

Yes as the flagship model for LM the Charge should be as close to perfect working order as possible :salute: :tu:
