Yesterday, Victorinox produced the 500 millionth SAK.
To this event a limited edition of the Swiss Champ was made.
3400 pieces - one for every Victorinox employee.
The event is only celebrated internally.

Man, that's about .07 SAKs per person on Earth.  A lot of members are being selfish and skewing that figure....    (members with lots of saks)

(If you believe that I've got some beach front property in eastern Colorado I'd like to sell you. The tide is currently out, but it'll be back soon (200 million years or so  ))

Assuming an average length of 80mm (and that is probably on the low side) 500 million SAK would be enough span the equator once!

I guess that makes Victorinox the king of pocket knives. That's more knives than all the "other" knife companies put together.

I've been doing some research and it looks like Wenger had about 23,742 different models... So... Lemme crunch some numbers

In the years just prior to their demise, Wenger sold about 2 million knives a year, one-tenth of Victorinox's output, but still enough to make them one of the largest knife makers in the world.  Assuming that ratio held over history, then they made about 50 million knives.

I wonder how the total unique model ratio looks between the two.

I believe I remember a video made in the early 2000's that Victorinox has made "around 100" different models....   I wonder if he's counting 91/84 models of the same as one....   He was sporting either the Altimeter or Voyager at the time.

Wenger made some awesome specialty knives though....
