Victorinox Watch Case Opener
on: July 09, 2017, 06:39:31 AM
Just received a new addition to the collection I felt was thread-worthy.  It is this 84mm Victorinox Watch Case Opener with Victoria tang stamp and a pretty cool "ROAMER" advertisement.  The Victoria tang stamp was used between 1940-1970 according to the chart Sir Ulli posted awhile back.

I've pictured the new-to-me WCO with a '65 Wenger Soldat and an OC Popular (late 70's/early 80's I believe)

I found another thread from a couple years ago regarding this gem if you're interested:

Well El C, I hate to be the one that hastens your bank account's demise, but since you already have the tool.......😝

Actually the tool works quite well for opening up the backs on some of the old watches......I use mine for that and it stays  in the box along with the Scientist to check out the little details.  Just some  more fun........

P.S.  The watch that I EDC was  made in 1897 so a bit older than my SAKs.  Keeps perfect time with one exception......I have to remember to wind it.......oh well!!  😊

Lovely watch collection. Glad I'm not the only one who carries a pocket watch. My favorite one is a Hamilton 992.

Indeed, awesome collection!

I've got a couple but don't carry them.  I probably would if I lived in colder climate...

Thanks guys.......oddly enough, I carry a pocket watch because hay from feeding the horses was getting under my watch band and driving me nuts, like a bunch of cactus spines.  😛  Found that the suspension clip I use for my SAKs also works great for a pocket watch.

Rich S.......my carry is Elgin National Watch,  Don't really collect, mostly accumulate but there is something special about carrying a 120 year old watch.  They made 'em good in those days......😊

El C......my knife is much newer than yours I think, Victorinox, etc. on the front tang, nothing on the back.  I think Renata makes the batteries for the electronic SAKs and probably a bunch of Swiss watches.

Yes, I use to collect and repair them. I carried one originally as I was a chemist and always getting all sorts of crap on my hands. My dissertation advisor recommended carrying a pocket watch. I been carrying one ever since (now long retired, but still carry one along with my SAK Tinker).
