SAK Wiki says it's still current and here's an Amazon UK linky;

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Victorinox-1477300-Army-Knife-Craftsman/dp/B0001P14XQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1339083688&sr=8-1

Looks like a nice model. You gonna get one?

I had a couple arrive this morning bought from the very amazon listing you posted.

I just checked vics site to get some info on the file and could not see it listed.

So thought it may have been recently disco'd .

They are really nice but they do beg the question " is that a canoe in your pocket or are you just pleased to see me". LOL

Thanks,
The link does not work for me as it is as you said north American only.
Maybe I can't see the wood for the trees so to speak as I have checked victorinoxs site again ( the one I have access to) and I still can't see it.

Well, I can't find the Craftsman neither when I'm on victorinox.ch...
Maybe it does have something to do with where you are? (Norway here.)

Did notice a Hunter XL with orange scales that I hadn't seen before, though :)

Amici,
First off check Felinevets shoppe, and see if he has any in stock. If not, Ebay has them at a decent price via Central Valley Wholesale.

Also the Hiker and Fieldmaster are nowhere to be seen on VICS site.

http://www.victorinox.com/ch/content/search?searchterm=fieldmaster

Do they discontinue models temporarily before reinstating them at a later date in some countries . While all along  maintaining them in other countries.

I think it's as simple as Vic's site not being complete. I would be surprised if the Hiker actually was discontinued, since it seems a pretty popular model.

I got one a few weeks ago from KnifeCenter.com and they had them in stock until very recently. It it also (fortunately) still available on eBay. From the current line of 91mm cellidor Victorinox SAKs the Craftsman is my top favorite (it replaced my long time fav, the SwissChamp).

No kidding. The toolset just begs for a backside Philips. It's a SC minus the Philips, mag and fish scraper. At least with the backside Philips it kept most of its driving capabilities. I usually prefer a backside corkscrew, but not on the handyman.

I picked up one of the last 5 Amazon had last September.  If I had to keep just one it would be that one.

This is what Sakwiki shows....it says it is discontinued model

"Craftsman
Victorinox Craftsman knife made c. 1987. This is the very first version of the Craftsman with the then-new pliers tool. This model has the original style pliers, only available for about 2 years (1986-1987).
The Victorinox Craftsman is a 91mm model, with a large tool set in six layers, first introduced around 1973. It had a historical connection to the American Space Program.

This model was current during the period when Victorinox were making many changes to their tool line up, so many slightly different configurations have been produced. The major change being the Pliers implement replacing the Fish scaler in 1986/7. See pictures right and 'Tools' and 'History' sections below.
Discontinued Model.

Being chosen to commemorate the Apollo 11 landing has continued to bring it a lot of attention over the years.
However it has probably been discontinued since at least 2006 - As it does not appear in the catalogue for that year. "

Ditto! I EDC a Craftsman. It's in my pocket right now. It's has a GREAT selection of tools! Probably one of the best SAKs they ever made, really. Perhaps they got too many whiny complaints about the #2 Phillips from customers so they pulled it and left the Handyman in production because they get fewer complaints about the corkscrew. IMHO, the only way to beat the versatility and tool selection of the Craftsman is by upgrading to a bigger SAK like the Swiss Champ or a Cybertool 41 or the like.

Ideally, Vic would be making more different models, not less. At least that would be ideal for me as my OCD demands variety. So, I carry several at a time... This helps, but I still feel the need to change-it-up every several days.

If Vic has issues with the backside Phillips, they sure don't seem to have any qualms selling the other models with it. I think they're just being pricks not in touch with their buyers. Hrm!

There is no Craftsman in the 2017 catalog (German version). The Handyman is still in it.

That's possible. I don't know how Vic operates, but some companies like to DC a product for awhile then bring it back to sort of stimulate demand. Maybe Vic does this too, I don't know.
You're right. There are several other models on the market with the #2 Phillips on the back. Personally, I'm bummed that they DC'd the Craftsman. The last time I saw a new one it was over $110. I bought mine new a few years ago for sound $70-ish. If I lose this one, I'll have to replace it with a Swiss Champ.

Well...I guess another option would be to get a Handyman and mod it to pull the corkscrew and put the Phillips on the back.

I know for sure that the Vic site only shows a selection of available models. This is stated somewhere on the site
Which BTW I think is pretty crap - as it leads to confusions such as in this thread!!

To check availability it is always best to look at the catalogue - Which is available on the site - Bottom of the Products Kinfe page

I am fascinated that the Craftsman is still available though - As I thought it has been DC'd for ages
I asked this question last year and some of our gurus said the above ^^

Maybe NOS? - Can anyone who bought one recently let us know some dating details please   ???   eg ......
Tang stamp VSSR or VSMS ?
Gold or sliver rivet in the scissors?
New stainless file?

That would be a clue
I can't believe old stock has been around for 10 years
Maybe they do bring the models in and out - or vary by geography

EDIT: Ooops just seen the original date on this thread. Although Barrry said he bought one last year

You know speaking of that I was at Big 5 the other day and looking at the glass knife counter. I saw 3 of the old Wenger EvoGrip type models. Still with Wenger logo and everything. Pretty neat but odd. Though it is a smaller store out in the middle of nowhere so go figure. It's not on the Victorinox authorized retailer list, which every store I been too around here that has them is. Plus they never sell those models.

I think you have answered your own Q KK  :pok:  ;)

Store in the middle of nowhere, so no/low sales traffic, stock they bought ages ago, (maybe they were a Wenger dealer), and just never sold, and no policy to clear old stock.
A few stories like this pop up on our forum from time to time.
Little Tinker found some 10+ year old Timekeepers/Supertimers in France a few weeks ago

I think you should buy them - Then keep - Or sell on ebay as a rarity/collectible  :tu:

Thank you Huntsman for the update :tu:

Vic has come out with a limited edition white-scaled Craftsman (not a Handyman) to go with a special edition watch for this year.  The set is called the Sky High edition.  I tried to post the pics here but you'll find them on the Any love for the Craftsman thread, page 2.  Beautiful set, but $850 is beyond me!
