Leatherman Wave Mod - Complete!
on: August 19, 2017, 06:43:51 PM
Hi Guys,

Managed to finish my Leatherman Wave yesterday. The last mod was robbing some victorinox scissors to add instead of the serrated blade. The others include a Rebar head and awl.

I think this set up is pretty good, and drilling the Victorinox scissor pivot didn't cause too many issues! (I uses TCT drill bits and a hand drill)

Here are the photos:

Hope you like it.

Cheers

Yes it is a Rebar awl - ground down though to get the tool to close fully!

Not sure if necro is frowned on like this here, but it seems to make more sense than a new post as I’m asking you a direct question about this mod! I’m looking at putting SAK scissors on my Wave, but there’s not a lot of info about- did you manage to have the lock working properly on this, and is there anything specific I need to watch for?

You should be able to reprofile the tang of the Vic Scissors so that the lock should work, I did not do this on a Wave myself, but on a Wingman/Sidekick.
And btw, Thread Necro is not one of the 7 Sins here.

Hi Ed, I didn't mod the scissors at all apart from the pivot hole so they dont work with the liner lock however are fully functional. The liner lock engages with the scissors at 90 degrees so you need to release it to open the scissors fully.

I have seen a mod on here where someone adds a washer or some sort to work with the lock.

Good luck with the mod. PS I managed to drill the scissor pivot hole with a hand drill in case you think you need a drill press.

I have gone back to the serrated blade on mine though as I always have a vic classic on my keys.

Let us know how you get on
