Blade alteration
on: October 23, 2008, 09:27:50 PM
I picked up a Buck 436 Revolution for about $15 awhile back at a Army/Navy store that went out of business to clip on my fire gear, mostly because of the clip and partial serration. Lately I've been thinking it would be nice to have a blunt/round tip on it. Should I just put it to the bench grinder or hack saw and finish with a file?? It has a 44HC blade.

Thanks :salute:

Bench grinder is probably quicker than hacksaw, shouldn't take you more than two minutes.

Whatever you do just remember to keep it cool.  have a tub of water next to you so as you can dip it in regularly.  If you let the blade get hot you'll kill the temper and it will never hold a good edge again.  As log as you don't rush you should be fine.  Post some pics when you are done.  :)
Be excellent to each other and always know where your towel is.

Yep, go slow on the grinder, and quench often.  Be sure to tell us how it works out! :)
