I bought this 1.25lb Red Bacon 464 Scoutmaster Germany hatchet off ebay. Handle is very rough but might be able to be redeemed

Got the head off. Splits are pretty much contained to the eye portion of the handle. Might need a funky shaped wedge to work. Not sure if I should soak it in linseed oil before fitting back on or after. Gave the mushroom bits a file to clean up, don't want to go much more and lose the stamp
